I have the sheetmusic scanned and can email the file to you. The arrangement is in E7th and even has words! It's in the key of C done by Santo Farina. If you want it please email me as I won't be checking here. Just confirm receiving it. Ron |

not true... Johnny was the guitarist in the duo. Santo played steel guitar. The original 1959 Sleepwalk was played by Santo, while his brother Johnny strummed chords on the guitar. Same format for all of the Santo & Johnny albums. Santo retired from music many years ago and moved to Italy. Johnny switched over to steel guitar and continued touring with his own band. He bills himself as Johnny Farina "of the original Sleepwalk"  To further confuse matters... Johnny has now re-recorded Sleepwalk and it sounds very close to the original. He has also recorded a "Christmas version" of Sleepwalk for his Christmas album. What Doug B.said is gospel.
I saw Santo and Johnny play live in 1960 in Salem, NH at a R & R tour and Santo was on steel, Johnny on guitar.I even chatted with them after the concert outside at Canobe Lake Park.
I also have there 1st original album in mono and Santo is also on steel on the cover.
This has come up on the Forum many times and the true answer is still the same,
Santo on steel,Johnny on guitar on the "original" recordings. Amen.

Just as Don said, this has been gone over many times. Santo played steel and Johnny straight rhythm guitar. Santo lives in Italy and John lives on Eastern Long Island and we are in touch often by e mail and telephone.It's no wonder I post so often. |

Wow, neat info. Given the "providence" of "Sleepwalk", and it's place in steel guitar history, it's neat to know the two innovators are still kickin'. |

About 15 years ago a venue called and wanted to hire the band, but we had to play Sleepwalk. Santo & Johnny's female singer stepped on stage and said I'll bet that you didn't know there were words to Sleepwalk. Talk about pressure. It all went well. |

You steelers who want to play "Sleepwalk" really should get a hold of Herb Steiner's CD and tab. He has a whole set just devoted to that song in several different tunings.

i have heard this dicussion about who is playing steel on sleep walk. i have studied the video from 1959 and i have a video of johnny playing in 2004. i have studied that one also. there is only 4 years difference in their ages so it is kinda hard to tell who is the oldest on the 1959 video. but with the hand movements the style of playing etc i would have to say that its johnny playing on the sleep walk video in 1959. now this is one thing i can't understand why not just enjoy the music instead of getting in a argument of who is playing what. no i also read a bio on the farina bros and it sadi santo was the steel player and johnny was the strummer on the 6 string. but i feel that was incorrect. if it is so important ask johnny he is still around and doing a very fine job. ------------------
