Wow!!! Don't believe a ZUM has ever lasted this long on the forum. Everyone must be broke or already have THE BEST GUITAR BUILT TODAY.

What a guitar.

It is the bad economy. If you will notice, there are a lot of really good deals that are not being snatched up. People are holding on to their money.

well i feel that the ecomony has nothing to do with it. look at how much he is asking for it. it is the price of a new zum steel.mine was a couple years old and i got it a lot less than that. try lowering your price to 2k and i bet it goes fast then. doc

Sidney Ralph, You do get right to the point. But, I'd say lets let Finis find his sales price based on the laws of supply and demand.

It might be a little high unless this one's not what you want but look at it this way: YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT 18 TO 24 MONTHS, .

My point here is that from a buyers perspective the cross is a sale limiting factor. Not everyone who plays Steel Guitar subscribes to the "Christian" point of view and would not want this emblem on the front of a guitar they might otherwise buy. I am not interested in starting any religious disscussion, I am just stating the obvious from a buyers point of view. Everybody is free to believe in whatever they wish...IP

Well said, Ivan. This Forum is not the place for a discussion on religion, a deeply personal belief by many, but Ivan has made a valid point here.

Following on from Ivan's valid comments, is the cross an inlay, or a sticker ??

--Please bear in mind that I'm speaking strictly on the subject of marketing--

I believe the issue of whether the cross helps or hinders the sale of the guitar depends on the specific group to which you are trying to sell the guitar.

For example, if you were trying to sell this guitar in, say, Bankok, or maybe, let's say, oh I don't know... Tehran, or likewise let's say maybe in... mmm, Berkley, then I would venture to say that the cross would probably not help sell the guitar.

However, at least from my observations, it appears to me that the cross would perhaps be a positive selling point here on the forum.

Not to me... I have no interest in having a "fish" symbol or a cross on my instruments, and it is always difficult to impossible to remove them. Such stuff usually constitutes a PASS for me.

Finis, I never meant my comments to cause a debate on religion. I was speaking from experience I have had trying to sell items I have had with pemanent markings. Buyers who would purchase the unmarked goods walk away...IP

If you will check a little closer I think you will find that this country was founded and based on RELIGION. God is in every document our founding fathers created. HE is even on our money ! And the last time I checked New Zealand was NOT a part of America.

Dennis, much as I admire Americans, I am glad we are not part of America. We are New Zealanders and very proud of it. If you wish to have disscussions on religious issues with like minded people then use e-mail or one of the many forums which support such disscussion. I was under the impression that this forum was the Steel Guitar Forum about which my original comments were made. I would not be playing Steel without this Forum and I am grateful for its existence as are many others...IP

Buddy Emmons, John Hughey or Hal Rugg, could put a cross on the front of their steel that would hang down to the floor, and It wouldnt slow the sale down at all reguardless what they were asking for it..

Of course if the cross was removeable it wouldn't be an issue --- but I do notice the guitar hasn't sold --- unusual for a Zum

I'm glad you're not a pert of America too. We have enough secularists already.

mebbe the reason that the guitar is not selling has to do more with the price than with the cross. I paid 2500 for a mint Zum D10.

Actually, I wouldn't mind a bit if New Zealand and the US were joined in the same country. I've met a few New Zealanders, and they've all seembed like great people. Sorry, Finis, I won't take up space in your thread any more.

For cryin' out loud -- somebody buy this guitar!

What in the world is going on here?
Fully half the posts have been about the seller's religious preference (or his marketing strategy), and this is a danged steel guitar forum, and specifically a topic in which Finis is trying to sell a steel!

This matter has been covered in feedback, as to people chiming in about the negative aspects of an instrument, which may hinder the sale.
To quote b0b on the steel I bought, with respect to a fo'bro butting in

quote:
You don't have a horse in this race. Butt out. It's between seller and buyer.

I don't have to agree or disagree with those of you taking sides, but I admire Finis for not making an issue of it, the way others have done. It's his steel.
Buy it or butt out.
Sheesh!

Before this one gets locked down, Hey Finis, I'm glad you're keeping that great looking axe! bet it sounds fine and plays incredibly. Personally I really like the front of it too but then again, I'm proud of the cross. Take care and God bless and keep you.
