Wow, Henry! What is that? It looks like Jules Verne's pedal steel! Very cool. What's the scale length?

Wow 81 posts! That is a lot.

Kinda proves two things to me;

1. The 3rd string IS breaking MORE often than what one would be led to believe.

2. Reminds me of the following true story:

I once was supervising a group of technicians scattered over 14 states. We had run into a problem on the latest electronic product our company (RCA) had produced.

Right during this time RCA decided to widen my territory to take some workload off my counterpart in Texas.

He met me at the airport in Little Rock (one of the cities they were relieving him of and giving to me). While driving to the local RCA branch, I mentioned to him about the problems we were having on RCA's latest product. His comment was,

"Must be you Carl, we have not had the first problem with it!" He was NOT kidding. When we arrived at the branch, the technician met us and the first words out of his mouth, after being introduced to me were,

"John, maybe Carl can help us find out what is causing the problems with RCA's latest product".

Yes, I was kind.

Your mistery "Steel guitar" I believe, decidedly offers a full measure of
intriguing aspects, should the viewer
take into account the disproportional
knee levers, adjustable legs, bridge
span, abundant inlay, unusual cabinet,
music box cornices, etc. To me, it smacks of the work of an enlisted cabinet builder, or skilled woodworker.
Add to that list of possibilities, the
"steel" appears not to be equipped with
floor protection devices. Note the
unusual roller bridge design. I've
stated in an earlier reply, that there
is something in a first impression that
suggests a miniature steel guitar.
