Well, it's almost convention time again and so the proverbial question is asked, "WHO IS GOING?"

I had hoped to and had a room reserved, but in April I got a two-week notice at work. Since then I've been extended several times and am now safe until September 28. I'm being reassigned to another task and there's a good chance that it will be long-term but I decided what with the unstable situation this wouldn't be a good year. Hopefully next year...

Y'all have a good time now.

Not me. I used all my spare money buying new guitars this year. I got some real beauties though, including a Jerry Jones electric Siter, a Baritone guitar, and a mini-12 string (a reissue of the old Vox Mando-guitar from th 60s)

Hey Mike,

How are things over in Illinois?

I wrestled with the options of attending the St. Louis show or going down to Central City, KY to see Buddy with the Everly's and I'm choosing to go see Buddy.

I've never been to a steel show and really wanted to go but the big E might not be this close for a while and I'll catch the St. Louis show next year.

We'll have to meet sometime. I hike in Illinois during the winter. I might holler at you.

I'm going. This is only the second time out of 13 that I won't be staying at the Regal. Even though I called for reservations in March, they didn't have any rooms available for Sunday night. I didn't want to change Hotels for one night, so I have reservations at the Adams Mark. The only other time I didn't stay at the Regal, I waited too late to decide to go.

I will be attending, along with my wife. Was hoping to meet Gene Jones, but I guess I will have to wait for another time. Hope to see you all there. Maybe we can get our wives, at least of those that will be there, included in the forum steelers' pictures. What about that Ann?

See you in St. Louis.....

To answer many emails recently received about this:

YES! The Forum Participants photo*** is planned again -- keep reading

Here's the plan ... it's worked very well before (as Smiley knows :

On Saturday at 6 pm,
let's meet in the
open, marble-floor lobby-area
between the Carter booth and Scotty's registration tables.

We can take photos then and put faces with names...

Also, if you'd like to identify yourself as a Forum member on your nametag, we will have small bright-colored stickers available at the Carter booth, starting on Thursday afternoon. Please feel free to come by to pick up your sticker and place it on your nametag ...

*** Dennis Atkins and any others wondering about this: I've given it some thought and here are my thoughts:
As for spouses and children of Forum Participants, our challenge is in fitting into the photo each year:
just all the Forum Participants, whether they post or just read the forum. So my response is: yes, it would be nice to have spouses and other relatives included, but no, we will not be planning on that (to be sure we can fit all the Forum participants into the photo). Here is the 2000 ISGC Forum Participants Photo, for example.

I Only speak for myself but others have agreed we will not support the St. Louis Show until they take the blinders off and Admit Maurice.Mow we all know there will be a great crowd to hear all the great Pickin. It could be a better crowd but I guess they feel they are happy with the numbers they get now.God Bless Herby Wallace and Tommy Morell both totally deserving and as of today still unanounced and verified as inductees. i said it first and say it again they are the inductees. If I'm wrong I'll kiss Bobbe Seymours A$$ in downtown Nashville.

......Last year the count was somewhere around 5,000 so I don't think you or your boycott cronies will be missed! If you want to continue your 100 man crusade, do it in another thread because personally I don't give a damn one way or the other whether he makes it OR who makes it for that matter. The convention is not centered around the Hall Of Fame inductee's. If it were, it would not be leaked every year. The only people who go to the convention for the sole purpose of the Hall Of Fame induction are those who are being inducted and their families. NOW, back to the original subject of this thread:

WHO ALL IS GOING TO ST. LOUIS FOR THE CONVENTION?

I already have my plane tix and hotel reservation. Since I quit my job for health reasons, I'm not sure if I can spring for the rest of the costs. I've been trying for 30 years to get there. I hope I can make it happen.
