For Sale: Buddy's original LuLu booze mug from 1978 International Convention. Also, original set of Buddy's custom made finger and thumb picks. The finger picks are made of cobalt for "that tone". The thumb pick was made by Buddy from the plastic nose cone of a 1951 Studebaker. Make an offer! DD |

I appreciate the thought David, and I do miss that Studebaker thumb pick. And Jack; I found some old sneakers I had custom made out of repossessed burlap that I wore one time while greasing a 1947 Packard. I stored them with a roll of Life Savers in each one, so I can assure you they are in mint condition. |

The question my friends.......is what am I doing at this time of morning even looking at the net.....But anyway,,, Buddy could you sent me some picts......I might have a buyer for the life savers......and if you talk to Ron Elliott ask him if he likes his guitar.....maybe there is a possibility of a package deal.... Jack, I asked Ron if he likes his guitar and he said yes. When I asked him why he said he didn’t know, so I dropped it. He did want one of the burlap sneakers without the Life Savers so I'm putting both rolls aside for you. I agree on the pre-owned steel business. If I had the money from all the guitars people claim used to be mine I could open up a steel guitar shop in Hendersonville. |

Jack, I didn't want to tell this about Buddy, but now the time is ripe. I saw Buddy in St.Louis, walking down Broadway, wearing one shoe. I said "hey Buddy, did you lose a shoe?". He said "Nope, I found one"............. by the way Jack, when are going to learn how to spell Daugherty? ..yukyukyuk.......JD |

Jack Dougherty Member From: Spring Hill, Florida, USA |
Hi Again...... Just got back from the monthly steel meeting. Lots of interest in the sneakers if Ron's deal falls through. John... as to the spelling....any time I go west of Florida the pronounciation as well as the spelling usually goes south. But the nice thing is we both have vowels. In some circles that could mean money and a free spin!! Buddy....if you have more of those LULU Mugs send me one......$.25 JD |

The market is "over-stimulated" on those products made from 51 Studebaker nose cones, and no longer within reach of the average investor. My financial advisor tells me not to buy fingerpicks until those mfg from the catfish grills of 1958 Edsels hit the market, as they will be more reasonably priced! |

I've got a '58 Plymouth made entirely out of thumb picks if anyone's interested |

I'm just sitting back waiting on a bidding war between BE and BS. If that goes well, then I'll put the rare Emmons experimental "Flint Bar" on the block. Last used when Buddy hammered the last chord on "Does Your Chewing Gum Loose It's Flavor On The Bedpost Overnight" and Little Jimmy's pants caught fire. DD |
|
Buddy Emmons Member From: Hermitage, TN USA |
Dennis, Yes, I remember that night so well. Little Jim looked like Hopalong Cassidy riding a Saturn rocket as he bounded about the stage, frantically beating at the smoldering ruins of his brand new Nudie britches. And how did he take it? The next day I called him “Hoppy” for short, but not for long. I’ll give you a dollar three eighty five for the bar. Winter’s coming on and I could set it by my fireplace and hit it with an andiron. |

Well Now!!! This changes everything.....OK the Emmons rags are back on the market..... Save all your used car parts as Buddy has most likely driven one and has manufactured some part for the descriminating steel player..... Dennis.... you may have started something....rumor had it that BE was in the market for a new line of steel goodies....as it seems others in Nashville have decided to negotiate to the highest bidder things he never had anyway.......So let the games begin...... Hey Jack (can't say Hijack in your business). It's good to see you have a little time on the forum, knowing you are so busy. If you took-off from the northwestern part of Oklahoma, would that be called "Flying off the Handle"? I had Charlie to install a pair of Geo.L's 10-1 pickups. I played them at a live show in Louisville and in the studio today, they sounded great,..clean, heavy, and cutty, very responsive. Guitar is doing just fine,..it's starting to get used to me(that takes some doing) I'm about fussy as Buddy. Buddy and I had some lifesavers yesterday along with some good Mexican food. We sure enjoyed the day(as always) Stay in touch, My best regards to you, Ron |

Jack, just sitting here doing some "serious"thinking again. And after looking at Buddy's story about lighting up Little Jimmy, Buddy's instrumental, "Raisin' The Dickens" must have saved Jimmy embarrassment from the original title "Blazin' The Dickens"? Oh yeah!...Would you believe, I also have Buddy's old boxing gloves with Lionel Rose's nose blood still on them? On a serious topic, I wonder what a bar made of polished rock would sound like? DD |

I'm just reading this and wondering how the hell Lionel Rose gets a metion on the Pedal Steel Guitar Forum ! Brendan |

Buddy, If you had all of those steels they said that you owned, what would you call your music store in Hendersonville? Would you call playboy to hire a office manager? I would like to have the job of screening them, So it would take some of the preasure off of you, That away you could check out for more of your steels from the past, and box up your old T-shirts, sneakers, socks and anything else you could run through the store.. ____________________________________________ On a serious topic, I wonder what a bar made of polished rock would sound like? DD --------------------------------------------- Dennis, I think "rock" is the definitive word here. Definitely not "country". Come to think of it... Back in my younger days I was in a few "Rock Bars" when I played a '54 Strat but they wouldn't let me bring my steel inside the place........JD |
|
Jack Dougherty Member From: Spring Hill, Florida, USA |
John.... Don't feel bad.....Some people wouldn't let me bring my steel in either...........And that was a country bar!!! DD,,,,,,I'm thinking of using lug nuts from a 47 Ford for tuners. Do you think there's a market???? Chrome of course!! |

Someone once gave me an old t-shirt worn by Ginger Baker along with a pair of drumsticks. I couldn't keep the shirt because it smelled so bad! Maybe the life-savers do the trick in the shoes, but I will never know!!! eeewwwwww! Heck, I will give you a dollar just to keep em'!!! brian |

Too late Brian. I just sold them to Ginger Baker for five dollars. |

DANG, DANG, DANG, I wanted the shoes for my self. I heard they were good for flat footed pickers. Oh well maybe next time, Buddy Give me right of first refusal.... Jennings...... We play steel for the beautifull angelic sound of it. ------------------ |

Jack Dougherty Member From: Spring Hill, Florida, USA |
I can't remember the last time so much was for sale for so little...... Folks we must start to show some forum decorum... Ron I don't think Ginger and Cookie were related as Ginger shortened his name from Bakerschocolate JD |

Ron Elliott Member From: Madison, Tennessee, USA |
Jack, if you'll check with BE, I think he has about 3 pair of old britches that need selling bad,..there may be more. Ron [This message was edited by Ron Elliott on 15 October 2004 at 03:03 PM.] |

Ron, You're probably getting Cookie Baker mixed up with Cookie Monster, the famous drummer? Ron and BE, if CD sales slow down and you're pretty much retired, smelly clothing articles will always auction last. Shania Twain's slightly soiled clothing is already selling better than Elvis personally used concert hankerchiefs and sweat towels. In fact, that Cove outfit that Buddy wore during the live video taping would sell big time to many deserving ladies if he hasn't washed it yet. This is a big market. Maybe even both of your Mexican dining clothes from the past week? DD |
