I received the first copy yesterday and the
audio is great. It sounds better than the original LP that I have had for years.

The folks that did this project did a magnificent job.

Thank you Mr.Roberts for letting sll of these
Forum folks aware of the Hot Club Of America.

Hi Chris
Thank you for your interest. Under the circumstances due to a limited amount of cd's at this time, I prefer payment as Smiley has illustrated above. If a personal check is sent
I would have to hold on to the check until the checks clears my bank and that would take
a few weeks and it would keep me from shipping others that are paid by the terms as stated.

Bank Money Order or Certified checks are all I am accepting at this point. If additional cd's are produced I will try to make other arrangements regarding payment available.
But for now I have to handle this as posted.

Thank You.

Please dont send personal checks. Its not that you are not trustworthy but it slows the procedure down waiting for those checks to clear and we dont want that to happen.

Please understand this is no refelection on those of you who did so. At this point only (1) has been a personal check and I advise you to make it a money order or bank check.

$18.00 dollars is not that hard on anyone who wants to listen to a piece of musical history. Please understand.

I am handling this project for Jody.
Thanks to all of you who helped Jody.

I recently received my copy in the mail, and all I can say is that IMO, you, dear reader, owe it to yourself to buy this CD. I'm still "digesting" this album, but really like what I've heard. (That's an understatement, actually -- I'm loving this album!) Excellent playing by all four guys, but, of course, Jody's playing in particular blows me away. Great tunes, and a masterful performance. Maybe it's just because I'm still pretty wet behind the ears & new to steel guitar, but all these cuts are difficult for me to categorize stylistically -- and I like that. From the tasty "Wabash Blues" to the impeccably-delivered "Minute Waltz," this is a great album. It's the first one in a long time that made me simply stop what I was doing & listen all the way through, giving my attention to nothing else! Thanks to Jody, Johnny Cucci, Augie Lamont and George Nida for the wonderful performance, and to everybody who has made this reissue finally available again.

My Tribute site to the 'Hot Club of America in Hi Fi'

I started this web site several years ago, building on a smaller page dedicated to 'pop' steel guitar I had made. It could not have been made without picture and context contributions from Jody, and I thank him for sharing his stories for this tribute.

Johnny and Jody's music (and Augie and George!) deserves much more recognition, and it is with the greatest pleasure I welcome the news of the re-release on CD of this "Unique American Music Album Rarity"

To think a fateful yard sale find could set in motion a chain of events that after many turns and twists of fate and the contributions of so many result in this happy occasion.

Hot Club of America in Hi-Fi Forever!

Thank you Dave, the four of us practiced in Johnnys back yard during the hot summer months,Johnny lived in a cold water flat..cold in the winter and hot in the summer no A/C. No heat in the winter. We sat behind those hot Fender amps and felt the heat from those 5881 tubes. In the summer we sat in Johnny's back yard and placed a bucket of Ice in front of us and we used a fan to blow across the ice to cool us off. Your wife Liz found us where we first started out, In a back yard.

There were people on the fire escapes in upper Manhattan's west side and even the Alley cats went deaf. Sometimes the people threw quarters and change, they thought we were playing to earn money.

Everyone knows it was YOU who reunited the four of us and for that I am forever greatful to you and "Liz Of Course"

Thank You, all of you. but thank Dave and Liz
and dont forget his boy Chris for all they have done and thanks to Everett Cox a wonderful friend for his support and to my friend Kenny Foy and Kerry Wood and so on and on and on. I hope you enjoy the liner notes.

If Johnny and Augie and George were here, they would be as proud as can be. When I meet them..I'll clue them in.

Thanks again. The Red Coats are Coming.

____________________________________________

Jody's playing on this additional disc is "Live" and amazing, and with a full CBS Television Studio Orchestra!

For the youngsters on the Forum, Arthur Godfrey was a Nationally known television star and musician who sponsored the "Prime Time" Lipton Talent Scout Show on CBS television. He was especially enamored with Hawaiian Music and often played a custom made Ukelele on his show, so when Jody Carver came along he couldn't say enough about Jody's talent and asked if he could play along with him on Jody's performance.

Jody was a master of execution of the steel guitar style of the era....A steeler named "Speedy" covered the west coast recording scene and a steeler named "Jody" covered the East Coast recording scene....if you didn't see the credits on recordings they played on by artists like Kay Star, Perry Como, etc, you wouldn't know which one was playing.

For some genuine steel guitar history, don't miss having this in your collection. Jody's sweet mother being interviewed by Godfrey while lauding her son Jody and the steel guitar is precious and alone is worth having this CD.

Don't let this one disappear into history without having your copy!

I'm bumping this up,as a friendly reminder to all those who said that they "couldn't wait for the CD to come out",but haven't ordered it yet. Now's your chance to get BOTH CD's,for one low price.($20 + $3.00 for S. & H. U.S.$) C'mon gang, let's support this newest member of the S.G.H.O.F. He only ordered 400 "HCOA" CD's,& 100 "Godfrey Show" CD's,so ya better get 'em while you can.
Thanx all.
P.S.
If you want either CD separately, the "HCOA" is $15 + $3,or the "Godfrey" is $5 + $3,so you'll be saving $3 if you order both, together.

My money order is in the mail. It should take 4-6 business days to arrive.

If anyone steel players are waffling on whether to order this CD, I can say that the HCOA record is inspiring. The playing is aggressive, tasteful, creative. Outstanding.

And here's even a NON-steeler's opinion (from http://showandtellmusic.com/pages/galleries/gallery_e/hotclub.html)...

"WOW. This is an amazing record. ...
Somebody please reissue this !"

While Jody is in seclusion. I might add that
I heard Jody's performance on Saturday on Steel Guitar Radio. I was shocked at his inability to play as he always does. Stress of a personal nature and other problems plagued him. He is truly a fine musician and in addition one of ,if not the most sincere people in my life. I might add,if you heard what Jody was and still is capable of, you would be in for a treat.

I beleive this may tell it all. And to you
Smiley Roberts, I thank you for being Jody's friend and to Mr. Gene Jones thank you too.

Here it is........

Here's a bump for one great CD, Jody's performances on the Arthur Godfrey show. This 2nd CD can't be beat, esp. if you buy both CDs & combine the $3 shipping cost for 2 CDs, instead of one.

Jody's Arthur Godfrey CD is a fun listen & Jody's performance on it is superb. Great tunes & impeccable delivery -- which comes as no surprise. What I particularly enjoyed about this 2nd CD is that you can hear the audience going kinda crazy as Jody repeatedly knocks their socks off. (Check out the audience reaction on "Caravan"! ) As Gene noted above, you can hear Jody's mother proudly introduce her son on the first track, which is touching. Also, it seems to me that, based on his various questions & commentary, Godfrey was rather intrigued with the "unique" instrument that Jody was playing -- an instrument that we Forumites know & love so well.

I highly recommend acquiring this CD of steel guitar history.
