Author | Topic: Reece - C6 workshop - NYC - could happen! |
HowardR Member From: N.Y.C.,N.Y. |
![]() As many of you know and have read, last spring I hosted Jim Heffernan's Dobro Workshop which was a very nice success in every way, and for all who attended. I've been threatening to hold some steel jams and workshops this year. Several people have expressed interest in a non pedal seminar, particularly with regard to the C6 tuning. Now, when it comes to C6 on non pedal, I don't have to tell ya'll about Mr. Anderson. But what I will tell you is that we've spoken and are both interested in making this become a reality. Mr. Anderson has the genius, and I have the NYC real estate. Now what we need are folks who want to expand their playing skills, broaden their horizons, and improve their approach to non pedal C6. So, I'm posting this to obtain an idea of the interest, because it will take a certain amount of people to make this happen. This can take place towards the end of Feb. I believe this is a great opportunity, so anyone who would love to attend, please weigh in here to give us a sense (I really need sense) of "how many." Let's make this happen! Yeah! |

![]() Very cool. If the workshop is held on a Sunday afternoon, and if Reece spends some time teaching 8 strings or more, I'll be there. --Steve |

![]() I'm interested. Especially if you work in some Hawaiian steel. Pick a song (Hawaiian Wedding Song) and work on it for a while, also have it in TAB so we can go home practice with it. Be real nice to have a back up trac on CD to go along with it. Again I'm interested. Come up with a date so we can plan for it. Thank you, Bill |

![]() We've disscussed the date of Feb 26. That's a Sunday. I'll have more specifics as we progress and things become finalized (hopefully). |

![]() This sure interests me--maybe even just as an observer as I've got no C6 guitars. But maybe I'll string something up for the occasion. |
Jim Cohen Member From: Philadelphia, PA |
![]() I'll certainly try to make it if I can. |
HowardR Member From: N.Y.C.,N.Y. |
![]() Jon, I can float you a steel for the workshop...name your string preference. Jim, I can float you one also....a ten string, burgundy, keyless...

![]() Sorry, Feb 26, won't work for me. My Special Olympics Ski Team is in a big Maryland State competition at that time. I'll keep checking with you to see the final date. It is very difficult to get professional instruction on the non-pedal steel in my area, I would love to get in on a workshop/jam. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Bill |

![]() Hmmm... 10 string, burgundy, keyless... now that's starting to sound familiar. Would that happen to be made by Lamar? Hmmm... yes, I do believe that would fit the bill perfectly, and I appreciate the offer to get reacquainted! jc |

![]() Excellent, Howard! We need more of these for us N.E./NY players. Keep'em coming. But I'm a little intimidated with Jim C., DVA, Jon and others as "fellow students".... will it be geared toward all levels? Also, all I have is a 6 string lapsteel....will Reece really address the basics? |
Jon Light Member From: Brooklyn, NY |
![]() Tony--most humbly (and sincerely, this is not a false humility thing) I am far more intimidated than intimidating in the presence of other players and truly I am not of Jim or DVA's class of pickers. I don't belong in that sentence with them. And the good news is that since I am not a C6 player I have a total excuse for whatever I may do on that day. And if goes really badly I can resort to "no speak english". Maybe even hand out little sign language cards and claim to be deaf/mute. I expect that you will have little to fear. |

![]() I want to personally thank Howard for being so kind as to invite me to conduct a non-pedal workshop the last weekend in February. Please be assured all the basics will be discussed as will all other facets of playing non-pedal steel. I will welcome ALL questions and be happy to respond to each individuals needs and requests. Please contact Howard as soon as possible so as to be sure you will be part of the Slide show. It will be a pleasure to meet each of you.
