"Overwhelming" was the word of the night. It was like going back in time when people would go out on a saturday night. The Elks lodge which is spacious was filled with Country music lovers who flooded Laney and Russ with request after request. My goal was to show that Country shows can still work and bring out the people.Although it takes a little more work now its important to choose the right people. Russ and Laney simply were the right choice as they totally took the audience on a great "Country" ride and made it a "Huge" success for the Elks. What genuine superb down to earth and greatly talented people they are and they brought a great band with them. The Elks put on a great dinner as part of the show and that was also outstanding. If I had to pick out highlights it was seeing Laney take hold of the audience from her first vocal and Russ when he opened up with an instrumental that had peoples head turn. But lets not forget Roger Hicks whose choice of material and vocals warmed up the audience before calling up Laney.Talk was all night about getting them back. Plus they did way more than any show required. They did over three hours on the bandstand and the people did not leave until they finished. They have to come back because they will be a hard act to follow.Thank you Laney and Russ and the band for the super boost and a super Country night. Also thanks to Chuck Campbell for RVing to the show and lending his great voice. |

Joe you must have got up earlier than me this morning as I was fixing to praise the show on the forum. We got there early and it looked like an RV park in the back. It was great to see and hear real country music once again the way its supposed to be.I was impressed with that Elks lodge ,the size the great meal we were served,Man a half of chicken my wife had the roast beef excellent.Congradulations on being presented that personally signed to you by the man himself,Les Paul Guitar. We will be by tommorrow before we leave and I will tune it for you. Great show, Laney is just super and about Russ all I can say is why does he have to make it look so easy?He told me he is getting a new MSA and thats enough for me I'll test drive them in St. Louis. ------------------ |

Hey Joe...thanks for having us...and thanks to Smiley Roberts for recommending us. I AM very proud of my very musical brothers and fellow musicians (Laney too)...without that level of talent that show couldn't have happened...We had a LARGE time, and maybe we can do it again. rh |

This will be my final posting as I will ask Joey to close the thread. I wish to thank everyone who attended and helped to make the show the success it was. I was asked to be entertainment chairman and if it means I can help have more true Country music shows I will accept the job.Once again if anyone wants to have a great entertainment night having Laney and Russ is the way to go. If they are in your area don't pass up the chance to see and hear a great show. ------------------ |

Sorry I had to miss this AND the TSGA too. Had a good time in Birmingham though,& made some "dinero" to boot. (I don't know how to get the tilde above the "n".) Any way,Joe's right. If you ever have a chance to catch by Laney & Russ,& the "Country Hicks" band,<--(my name for 'em) ya better do it. For you "newbies" on here, they are two of the neatest,& talented people you'll ever wanna meet. A special thanks to Joe Casey for bringin' these folks down there. Okay Joey, now you can close it. ------------------ [This message was edited by Smiley Roberts on 13 March 2006 at 08:07 AM.] |

Myron ,I was going to and had permission to but felt it would not be right when the Artist have their own product on sale at the show.I know too many people and I felt that the request for copies when I denied them would make a few hard feelings. Plus copyrite laws at live shows technicly prohibit that practice even if the Artist is nice enough to allow it. Joey Please close this thread. |
