Just released, this 12 track CD (plus a bonus track) features songs recorded by Merle, Buck, & Wynn. I've tried to retain the original flavor of the original track on most of the cuts. Moon plays with me on three songs, and on others I alternately play an Emmons and a Fender 800, keeping a balance between my own style and the Mooney style. You'll get the picture by clicking the sound samples. Live studio band: light drums, piano, bass, acoustic rhythm, fiddles, electric guitars, round neck resophonic. The songs are: And a bonus track = "MR. MOON" (this is a tribute to Ralph with Red Kilby doing a fine job singing it) Here are six sound samples Streets Of bakersfield [This message was edited by Mike Headrick on 23 September 2006 at 03:28 PM.] |

Hi, Marco. Shipping to the Netherlands (or anywhere outside the U.S.) is included at 17.00 if it is OK to ship without the jewel case. If you'd rather have the CD in it's case, please add $2.00 Thanks, Marco. |

WOW!!!!!!! What a great CD and it was my pleasure to be part of this wonderful tribute to The Bakersfield Gold Sound of Mike Headrick and Ralph Mooney. I have played my copy over and over again since I got it from Mike 2 weeks ago. If you like that Old Fender 800 sound this is the CD for you!!!!!!!!!! The song "Mr. Moon" was a real treat to sing while Mike played just like them Old Mooney Records on it. So do yourself a favor and pick up a copy from Mike real soon!!!!! www.mikeheadrick.com www.redkilby.com [This message was edited by Red Kilby on 14 September 2006 at 06:34 PM.] [This message was edited by Red Kilby on 14 September 2006 at 06:35 PM.] |

This CD came in the mail today and I played it driving over to Gulfport. I havent experienced chillbumps and pure ecstatic core tingling since, well, we wont go there. This is my number one steel CD now and I have a few. This thing is so tight, great sound quality, and professional that it is hard to believe what you are hearing. Great stuff! Get it, Get happy! |

As a point of interest, Josh Grange, who plays steel with Dwight Yokum, just bought the Fender 800 I used on this Bakersfield CD. The guitar will be used on Dwight's forthcoming Buck Owens tribute. |

Also want to chime in about how really good this cd is. This is truly some fine work, especially if you have an ear for the west coast Bakersfield sound. Wanted to get a couple of cd's of Mike's work and asked him to send over another cd of his choice and Mike included his "Steels On Wheels" cd. Wow. Another really tasty treat. Know there has been some discussion recently on the forum about who invented "country rock",not going there, but all the material on the "Steels" cd is from the Chris Hillman - Gram Parsons song list. More really, really fine work. Both cd's are so well done and are definately one's to add to the collection. Thanks Mike [This message was edited by John Hauck on 26 September 2006 at 05:03 PM.] |

Mike, I enjoyed visiting with you at the convention. I just ordered the cd, every thing I've heard from you has been exceptionally good, including the guitar stuff. Also looking forward to hearing more from Red Kilby, a fine singer. And I hope Moon never stops picking. ------------------ |

Thanks very much, guys. I appreciate your comments. It really helps to get replies like yours. Some folks wait until they see what others say about a CD before they order. |

Mike's CD's are among the best I've ever heard and that's NOT just some forum hype!! I personally love the tone he gets from his instruments and each selection is mixed so nothing is lost which is great all by itself. The results he delivers with each new offering are always entertaining and very much remind of me of the eras where some of the best music was produced. It takes someone with an artists ear and "minds eye" to put packages like Bakersfield Gold togther; inviting the participation of the very players who created a whole genre of style is not only a tribute to them but brings it back into focus here in more current times. It's great hearing the ones who inspired us all once again in a more highlighted setting. Mike does this probably better than any other producer out there! I can't wait for his next project. Thanks once again Mike! |
