Jim, That may have originally been an SD-10. Emmons uses the same endplates for all their guitars, so the singles have the open space in the endplate like this unit. |

The end plates appear to be "Bent" for the corners and a "Socket" welded to hold the legs.I cannot figure out the fretboard the pickups are merely 6 string type. I would like to have this for my Museum.I doubt that it plays or sounds as good as the "Door Hinge" job that sold the other day.Ed |

The cabinet looks to be either oak or mahogany, judging from that pic showing the grain. If its oak that would explain the weight. |

Is that a old Fender Steel. The second rod on the second pedal is bent.I think I will stick with My Fessy SD-10 with 3-4.Even short a couple of strings. I need those other two strings. Sam White[This message was edited by Samuel E. White on 02 September 2004 at 06:30 PM.] |

Hello Savell, What's the use in tying it down. Charley came through my backyard in one direction and I'm hoping Frances will straighten the trees back up. Good luck to you in Lakeland. It appears you will be getting it worse this time. I'd wish it more south, but it would hit the Kennedys in Palm Beach, and they've had more than their share of disasters. Duncan |

There's an old saying which I abide by: Never judge a book by its cover. You guys are belittling this steel, without ever having heard it. A musical instrument should be judged by how it sounds, not how shiny it is. I myself own a very old, very tatty British-made pedal steel, with a very rudimentary and untidy undercarriage. It has the sweetest pedal steel tone imaginable. The tone is streets ahead of any modern day PSG on the market. |
