He should be on trial for the "murder on music row". Along with a few 100 others.

This will end up being the most blatent case of "celebrity justice" since the OJ trial. Faith Hill has been trotted out to influence jury selection and everybody on both sides is a fan. McGraw is already booked for an appearance on the Today Show's Friday concert series later this summer which suggests that no one seriously expects him to do any time at all. F. Scott knew what he was about when he said, "The rich (and by extension the famous) are different from you and me."

"ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - High noon is approaching for country singers Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney in the case of a police horse ride gone awry.
Jury selection was scheduled to begin Monday in Orchard Park Town Court.

McGraw and Chesney were arrested last June after performing at the George Strait Country Music Festival near Buffalo. Erie County Sheriff's deputies said Chesney rode away on a police horse and McGraw tussled with police who tried to pull Chesney off the horse.

McGraw, the husband of country star Faith Hill, is charged with assault, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and harassment, misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in prison. Chesney was charged with harassment.

McGraw road manager Mark Russo, who joined the fray, was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Attorneys expect to choose a jury in a day and then present a case that will hinge largely on testimony of eyewitnesses.

Defense attorney Thomas Eoannou has said the singers take the charges seriously."

Nothing like a "speedy trial by a jury of your peers."

Well, I think that THEY are guaranteed a speedy trial, if they wanted it. The state isn't guaranteed a speedy trial, however.

Hmmmm, peers? First, I'd demand a change of venue to Tennessee, then make sure that Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, etc. were on my jury.

After all, what do they REALLY know about horses in New York City?

If it happened in AZ. they could get hung for stealing livestock. The hanging law is still on the books in this state.Shall we try to move the trial here?

Steeling is still legal in Arizona(but not horse steeling)

Don't hang Kenney just yet, OK?

I'd like to hear "the facts" again after the trial is over.

My best recollection (and personal opinions on the matter at the time) was that the officer in question was probably "star struck" and let Tim ride the horse. Which was a stupid thing to do in the first place, IMO. Especially since it was probably obvious Tim was inebriated.

Tim then proceeded to keep the horse longer than the officer really wanted, and got mad about it.

At that point, who knows what really transpired, but punches were thrown.

Personally, I'd give all three of them (Tim, Kenney, and the officer) about a week's worth of shoveling horse manure of the streets for punishment and call it a day. And, since the lawyers have managed to delay it this long, I'd give all of them about two weeks of the same punishment.

Judge Ted Poe (Houston) would be proud of me.

I saw a picture of Tim&Faith in the newspaper today! Tim was not wearing a hat! I see now why he wears one! Also, Do you think that Chesney thought that horse was sexier than his tractor?

OK, I hereby give Ray the authority to extradite to Arizona (for a "hanging trial") whoever decided to release THAT song as a single.

And here, all along, I thought the only thing he ever did bad was to sing off key!

Overheard at the bar one night......

"They make beautiful music...the two of them."

"You mean Tim and Faith?"

"No, him and Antares."

It's pretty sad that the trial starts almost a year after Cledus T. Judd already wrote a song about it. Seems Cledus already punished them enough by making Kenny get hit on by his cellmate in the song.

If they end up in jail together, Kenny can sing stupid songs to him about tractors and big orange balls, and Tim can whine back about it.

Comon Fellas Tim was sticking up for a buddy. It was Chesney who rode off on the horse and when the officer or officers threw him to the ground Tim jumped in and helped. Not a smart thing to do but a friends a friend..With all the major crime in Bufalo I guess the swat team must have been too busy to respond. There may be some Horse$--T involved but I think this whole thing is a pile of Bull$--t.He will wind up doing a free concert for the PBA or FOP whichever union they have.By the way Tim uses a lot of steel in his shows and recordings.

Theresa,

Glad you're enjoying the CD. I don't have it, so unlike some, I can't give it an honest review. And of course no one would summarily dismiss a recording without having listened to it thoroughly, unless they were just a crotchety old fart that hated everything recorded after 1962. ;-)

Michael you are correct. And this didn't happen in Buffalo for which they are very lucky. In Buffalo they would have just shot them both very dead. You mess with a cop in Buffalo and you may as well give you soul to God cause your A$$ will be there's. And I did listened to his CD but only once. Have a great day

I listened to it too, and like Jessica Lange said in the movie "Sweet Dreams": "Whine, Whine, Whine. Thats all you do is whine." He needs some of this good Wisconsin cheese to go with that whine.

Anywhere in the world it's not a good thing to attack a Police Officer..However If I was the shift supervisor I'd be questioning my officer as to how Chesney was allowed on the duty horse to begin with.I'd be questioning as to how an officer who is assigned the task of giving security to the people in question allowed himself to become involved in such a incident..You may or may not like Tim Magraw but don't hate him purely because of his successes. How many of you ever listen to his complete CD? The man could never be anything but Country. He's no Merle Haggard voice wise I grant you,I'm as stone country as any of you and Tim Magraw has his own style but it's Country.

Theresa after going back and reading that post I found it was a little strong so I changed it. And I have nothing personal against Mr Magraw I just don't like his music.I don't say you shouldn't that is up to you. And I'm sure he would not like my choice of music and that is fine with me. But country it is not. have a good day

My thoughts exactly.

I'd be embarrassed to even bring it to trial. Maybe they had no choice, but surely they could've influenced the DA's office just a little on that.

Craig Davidson - Sure, if you'd like to see Tim McGraw locked up good, by all means give him some of that Wisconsin Cheese . Seriously when I subbed for Barry Chance in Printer's Alley years ago, Tim would come in the club, ask if he could get up and sing, and wait very patiently until he was called up. A really nice kid, very appreciative. Dollars to doughnuts, he's still that way. Best, Boomer

First of all his dad "Tug" was a baseball player. Second no matter what you say I can't handle whining singers no matter how nice they are. As far as his success goes, people not to long ago complained about country music being that whining crap. Now they buy it. And even if he is so successful it's not because I buy his stuff. If some of you like him that's ok, but to me his singing sounds a lot like nails on a chalkboard combined with a tomcat with his tail in the screen door.
