![]() Wow! This thread is as close as this forum's been to the "black helicopter" in a long time. ![]() Tim's a likable guy, and his singing has improved a lot in the past couple of years. I also admire him a little for his outspoken brand of patriotism. |

![]() I like most of Tim's music. I love the fact he uses steel on records and carries one on the road. He appeals to alot of the younger generation, with the exception of Derek! ![]() Anyway, Hat's off to Tim. Perhaps his hair loss is due to the Hat? ![]() Theresa |

![]() Tim obviously has a huge fan base, and leaped some pretty big hurdles in his career. My "problem" with Tim and Faith stems from seeing them in concert as they were falling in love. They were so intense on-stage together that I felt I should look away out of respect. To this day, when one wins an award - then the camera pans to the other one, it STILL seems like they think they hold the unspoken secret about life and sex, and they're keeping it all to themselves. I actually like his hat. But, in my opinion, he crossed the Country line when he performed live on the Today Show showing his NAVEL!!! Isn't that a breach of Country Music's code of ethics? Maybe he just lost a button? |

![]() I do find his affectations and his posing a little irritable, but I've heard many worse singers. I saw him live on the TV 'Opry' a while back, and his pitching was suspect - having said that, I can level the same accusation against Brad Paisley in the same situation. Maybe the monitor situation on that stage is less-than-perfect. That current 'single' of TMcG's is appalling (more bad rock'n'roll), but I have his CD from a few years back (the one with 'Just To See You Smile') and I think it's very good. Rather him than Kenny C. any day, but really good singers like Joe Diffie and Joe Nichols are a bit thin on the ground lately..... Incidentally, I was driving hime from Nashville to FL last night (650 was coming in loud and clear) and I heard Brad P. singing his 'Celebrity' song with just an acoustic guitar - he was excellent and carried the whole thing off very well considering there was no band behind him. ------------------ |

![]() re bald...... The man who is going bald at the back first is a thinker. The man who is going bald at the front first is sexy. The man who is going bald back and front only thinks he`s sexy Glyndwr. |

![]() I too, am not a fan but after hearing my own singing and seeing how much he's made, I guess he doesn't need my opinion. |

![]() I've liked several things Tim did... I especially liked the horseriding debacle ![]() I guess I'm just a sucker for cheesy ballads but I still like "Don't take the Girl". I also saw where someone had a problem with Clay Walker. Clay is a bonafide cowboy and Texas hero. He is a huge star in Texas right up there with George. He also is a fan of Texas swing. He has a working cattle ranch outside of Brenham, Tx. More importantly, Clay is my 16 y/o sons fishing buddy. He is about as down to earth and normal as they come. When not in his "stage persona" he has no use for any of the trappings of stardom, dresses like your average redneck fishing buddy and goes completely unrecognizable among the general public. He would much rather talk fishing or cattle than music. |

![]() I personally don't care for aobut 99.9% of what Quck Draw McGraw puts out, and I'd venture to say a good bit of it is NOT country... (although, the live version of his 'new' song runs into a version of David Allen Coe's ''the ride'', which is fine with me), however, I have to wonder how much of what he does (or any of the big stars today) is what he chooses, or what the record companies SAY he has to do.... and I do respect and in fact admire the fact that he recorded his last album using his touring band, and in his performances will give them the credit they deserve. A lot of times the touring bands do NOT receive the credit they deserve... they can play all the studio ace's parts note for note, and do it well, and are great players as well, however, the economics of it is, guys like Brent Mason, Paul Franklin get the studio gigs because 1) they ARE good, 2) the can put down a part in one hour that the touring musician may take 4 hours to put down, 3) can give the producers the tone they want, and more importantly, 4) know how to deal with the producers etc much better. As for Faith hill, I give her MUCH more respect than Shania Twain, if only for the fact that yes, both of their last albums WERE pop music, and not country, however, Faith came right out and said 'this is a pop CD', while Shania still tryied to convey that it is Country (which if you ask me, dig up some old Def Leppard from the '80s hair metal era, and listen to the songs... shania is recycling the old themes and CALLING it country, just because there is steel guitar and fiddle on the recording).. at least Faith is honest about what she is doing.... |

![]() In my opinion last night on the CMA's Tim did sing really good. He does have my respect. As Shania being mentioned here. She deserves much respect. I'm shocked she wasn't nominated for best album or female vocalist of the year. |

![]() Is there not a distinction between someone being a good person and someone being a good musician? I did not start this thread to attack the personality of the guy, I was just dumbfounded at how unbelievably bad his new song is and how poorly he performed it at the radio city awards or whatever that was called. When I say Tim McGraw sucks that means I think that the music released under his name contains so really horrible stuff. And him being a down to earth bald guy doesnt make him a good musician, just as being a great musician doesnt make you a "good guy". |

![]() I know a few gals who think Tim is the bomb. Tim is a good looking front man who also happens to be a star. I don't like all his stuff, but he does have some good country songs that are cool club songs. Bald is part of growing older, big deal? I don't know any stars who never ended up putting out some lame songs at one time or another, but Tim can sing and he's done with puberty that's for sure. Wantabe Child stars who are going through those changes of growing up shouldn't ought to be puttin down Tim's singing when their own voice is going through them changes and as such, can't sing for dog right now? Being Dolly Parton won't get you laid boy? Tim is a good role model for ya, and shave your head, it's in style. |

![]() Maybe if Tim magraw came upon the country music scene 30 years ago he might have had a hard time doing the music he does now.Reverse that, maybe if Hank Williams came on the scene now he might have a hard time doing the music he did then.90% of it now is promotion and it is working.Good salesmen have always been able to sell ice to Eskimos. Country music down through the years has had a lot of distinctive voices that fit the music they sang.Good songs sold the artist.(as Bill Anderson) If you go back and play the originals you will find their voices were not what you would call great but the music fit the era and people could sing the styles and relate to the artist...It was easier to get up close and personal. People who flock to see and hear Tim Magraw do the same it's his era. I don't have any Tim Magraw collection I may not be a fan however I don't condemn his successes However there is a lot of good music out there.Isn't music the one thing we are all about? We changed a lot of things too,When I first started I was a Hillbilly singer, then It was Country and Western, and finally I got stuck on Country which lasted 40 good years Oh yes I have light growth of cranium residue also. I salute all my fellow veterans on this Veterans day. |

![]() Todays country it all sucks, cant tell any of them apart they all sound alike. id rather listen to hard rock then todays country, thats why i have over 1800 classic country songs stored right here on my computer |

![]() McGraws lack of hair doesn't bother me, nor does his lack of talent. What does bother me is the lack of taste of the people who buy his CDs and go to is performances. Started with no talent---still have most of it. ------------------ |

![]() Here's what I don't understand about this thread: 1. Tim played bars like you guy's right? 2. To get someone to invest in your act, it's gotta be working out great in the clubs first right? 3. There's no post production on the sound there? 4. Tim can have a bad night like evryone else, cause he was a club musician like evryone else? Heck, stars gotta really have a strain on their energy if they stay busy, and Tim has young kids now? 5. I own a couple of Tim's albums. I play two of his songs (She'll have you back, I like it I love it). "She'll have you back" is as cowboy as it get's, if you think that sucks, thar's something wrong with ya then, I'm sorry but it don't make no sense at all? 6. I wish I could sing half as good as Tim can! What a range! |

![]() All right, you all have piqued my curiosity, and so I have decided to check out this Tim McGraw character, who arouses such intense passion in the membership of this august body. I see a plethora of Tim McGraw songs on WinMx. Which ones would you all recommend as uncommonly suckulent? |
