![]() From time to time I have seen other threads about steel guitars used on kids television shows but just lately, I watched some of the old Blues Clues shows on tape that my grandson has as a current favorite. The steel guitar is once again used very tastefully and I especially like this guy's harmonics. They fairly burst on you like bubbles and are very bell like and clear sounding. Anyone have an idea who the player might be or for that matter, what equipment he is using... Regards, Paul [This message was edited by Paul Graupp on 08 September 2004 at 04:20 PM.] |

![]() Paul, my youngest has outgrown Blue's Clues now, and on the whole I don't miss it, but I liked hearing the steel and often wondered who that was. Another thing about that show though - the original Blue's Clues host, Steve (now it's some guy named Joe), looked uncannily like a young Ian Tyson! Didn't sing as good as Ian though...... |

![]() Here is a list from a credits page for Blue's Big Musical Movie. Do you guys recognize a steeler among them? If so, maybe that's the steeler on the TV show. Main Performer: Blue's Clues ------------------ [This message was edited by Bill Llewellyn on 09 September 2004 at 07:43 AM.] |

![]() Thank You Dave !! Good link and a lot of answers. I wasn't on the Forum back then but a lot of the comments are exactly as I see them in my two and a half year old fan these days. Do you happen to know if he still comes onto the Forum ?? Regards, Paul |

![]() John: Thank you for "Chiming In !!" If I can get my grandson Caleb as interested in steel guitar as he is with Handy Dandy Notebooks and Thinking Chairs, He will be in the next generation of steel guitarists and a lot of that will be your early influence on his hearing of music. "Dat Paw Paw's geetar !!" Regards, Paul |

![]() Raffi had a pretty good steel player too. Nothing fancy but quite nice. Choice cut would be a song that I think must be called "Bathtime". Also, a song that might be called "Gonna Ride My Palamino". Got to get to 'em while they're still young! Take a lesson from big tobacco companies. |

![]() Henry, I have a hunch the steel player on the Raffi cuts you mentioned may have been a Toronto musician named Chris Whitely, who is a very fine blues guitarist, among other things, and at one point played steel in a version of "Hank Williams (and did a real fine job I might add)- the Show he Never Gave". He and his brother, Ken Whitely did a lot of work with Raffi. |
