I saw this show recently, and I didn't even know some of these singers! Apparently they considered only current hotties, not those of the recent past, such as Crystal Gayle and Tanya Tucker. They also missed some current ones. Comments, forumites?

I would have to say Emmylou was about the only woman I would have left my sweet wife for back in the late '70's.

First I've heard of it too but I've always favored Patty Loveless. We don't see her much anymore but she made an appearance on Alan Jackson's 'Monday Morning Church'. She hadn't sung three words before I recognized her voice. Sexy gal and a sexy voice.

as long as we're going back in time, my vote goes to Rose Maddox circa 1940's.

This was on satellite/cable tv--CMT, I think. I agree there's something about Patty. She's not flashy, but she's got something. Tammy Wynette had her moments, too. I think some of the selected babes have been in country music about ten minutes.

I happened to catch this show and Sara Evans, Terri Clark and Faith Hill were on the list. Also on the list were, Shania Twain, The chick from Trick Pony, the blonde from Shedaisy, Gretchen Wilson, Julie Roberts (I think), Sheryl Crow (I know, not country), Trisha Yearwood, LeAnn Rhymes (I think), Martina McBride.

The show did seem to feature only the recent stars. It seemed to focus on the sex appeal that showed through on their videos. I was also shocked that Patty Loveless was not on the list. Maybe she didn't show enough skin in her videos.

Emmylou Harris has been my favorite for lots of years. She is even more lovely in person (at the foot of the stage).
Patsey Cline in those peddle-pushers was quite a dish. Nobody has equaled her. Timeless and cool.

First of all, Emmylou is a MAJOR babe, in every way! The fact that she is totally talented, and not afraid to take chances with that talent, makes her MORE of a babe.
And I think, when she gets to be a hundred, she'll STILL be a babe. And we should be talkin' about these ladies' music, and not some hokey country TV special about "the sexiest" women.
And besides, they left BESSIE LEE MAULDIN off the list!!!! How can they be taken seriously??????

Bessie Lee Mauldin!?!?

Steve, you've GOT to be kidding, right?!?! I don't see any smiley faces. If you're talking that era, I'd take Donna Stoneman over Bessie Lee anyday, except in a fistfight. That one, Bessie would win hands down.

For the forum: Mauldin was Bill Monroe's girlfriend throughout the 50's and 60's. They might have been married. She was a big ol' gal with peroxide hair to match, and a hell of a bass player. But her "babe status" is up for debate.

Used to see her a lot when Monroe came through LA in the early-mid 60's. There was a lot of her to see, also.

My criteria for "sexy" is a woman that gives off the vibes that she's enthusiastic about doing the Wild Thing. So my current faves are Shania, Faith, Chely, and that current hottie that sings "Redneck Woman," whose name escapes me at the moment. But of course, that's what their videos are intended to portray, which is part of what destroyed country music as we used to know it. So the sexy sword has two edges to it.

Dang Joe, Princess Ramona? That's a blast from the past. I've actually played a couple of gigs with her in my old SoCal days. Back to the sexiest women thing, I'd go for these:

Linda Ronstadt in her prime (before the fat and dumb polital statements.

EmmyLou back then and even today she's hot.

Geraldine? of the gospel group Wendy Bagwell and the Starlighters

Donna Stoneman, dancing around playing that mandolin.

Allison Krause, she should be moved way up on that list.

Chris Connell of Asleep at the Wheel, she was/is so cool and sexy.

Lorrie Morgan, "Great Hooters" and a voice to boot.

Nancy Griffin, that girl puts me in a "Texas State of Mind"...

Last but not least, in a senior moment I can't think of her name, but she wins the Bluegrass female vocalist of the year on a regular basis. Dark hair and plays the mandolin and sings her butt off...

Have a good 'un...JH
