Glad someone brought up Tower of Power. Baddest funk rhythm section in the universe back in the early-mid 70s. Garibaldi, Bochte on guitar, congas...check out Soul Vaccination sometime and I dare you to sit still.

Yeah, Tower of Power laid it down! The horn section used to appear regularly on late nite tv, Letterman I think, for years later.
I always loved those horn fills....lines, riffs, stabs whatever you horn players call them, on top of the bass groove.

Someone mentioned Cut the Cake. I believe Pick up the Pieces was also by AWB, no?

And the great thing about Tower is they're still around, touring, sounding great. I saw them in concert with the great Lenny Pickett on tenor, way back, and his dance moves when not playing were just as entertaining as the band.
