Has anyone tried one of these ?

I'm interested because the original 70's units were re-badged as the Emmons Guitar co. "Fuzz Machine" for a brief period as discussed on this thread

I've been trying to find a clip of Curly or Buddy playing through the Fuzz Machine but neither of the songs mentioned in the thread are available to the UK (Ode To Billie Jo or New Road Under My Wheels respectively). It would be terrific if someone could post a clip! So far the only demonstration I've found is here but it gives no idea of the octave sound or what the effect is like for steel.

The original designer of the Foxx pedal went on to found Danelectro who produce a very cheap Tone Machine clone called the DJ-13 French Toast. No idea why it's called that. Does anyone know how these compare to the Foxx re-issue? Thanks!

I had a first year issue Fuzz box and it picked up an AM radio station pretty good. Was an Octive/overdrive/fuzz unit that did a great job in the sound department.

It had a great Jimi Hendrix type sound when I owned it. I didn't like the radio station it played.

I've still got my original one that I bought back in the 70's. Nice creamy tone and octave function. Used to use if for playing double leads with a synth player. No parts that aren't still available, so the reissue should sound just as good. Never picked up any radio stations though. I think I paid about $35 for mine. Aren't they over $200 now?

The re-issue goes for $199 so I reckon you could double that for an original in good condition.

Found an example of the octave effect. Sounds like fun but I'm not sure how much I'd use it. Hopefully I'll get to try one out at the London Guitar Show this weekend.

Wow! That "octave" sample reminds me why I quit usin' effects!

They sound killer, I had one right after they came out and A/B'ed it with an original. Very nice though a bit pricy.

... I tried one out with a guitar yesterday and it sounded fantastic though a Vox amp. I'm not crazy about the octave effect but the sustain and fuzz is incredible. Just too expensive for me for something I would hardly use (and with the fuzzy-felt box, what a dust collector it would make).

I might still get the Danelectro sometime as a bit of fun.
