The fiddle player I work with at night also works an afternoon show in Branson with Russ Weaver. He said tonight that Russ was in a bad car accident Friday night in Branson. I think he said Russ is in the hospital at Springfield,Mo. He was told Russ had a very bad hip injury and shoulder injury and was to have surgery on Monday. I'm sure Russ would appreciate your prayers on his surgery and recovery. Eddie Snow

I talked with jimmy queen who had spoken to russ last night. he is having surgery today and after he is stable will return to Independence to recoop. Keep him in your prayers. fortunately one of the best bone specialists in the midwest is in springfield. he did brake his shoulder as well as dislocating it and his hip is broken as well. God speed to the russ and the team of medical professionals taking care of him.

What an awful shock! Russ and I have only just been e-mailing back and forth in the last few days as he tirelessly (as usual) answered some PSG questions.

This is particularly unfortunate as he's playing a gig right now, and he'll be sidelined for a while - that's a blow to anyone doing this for a living!

Russ, Susie and I send our best wishes, and we'll be thinking of you in our prayers - especially today during your surgery.

Thanks to everyone who'll be keeping us all up-to-date on Russ' recovery.

Roger

Update on Russ Wever. It seems a car was observed speeding just before the accident. A person seen a speeding car and made the comment that "the fool is going to hurt or kill someone". That person was able to identify that car as having caused the accident. That speeding car hit the drivers front riders side of Russ's car...not head on.. just at the edge of the front. Injuries to Russ consists of: 1-Left Shoulder is dislocated. 2-Left arm is fractured. 3-Right hip is dislocated. 4-Thigh bone busted through the ball joint into the pelvis.

He has had a MRI but no results were given at this time. The doctors plan to operate on Thursday or Friday then Russ will spend at least one week in the hospital recuperating. He will then be taken to his home in Independence, MO where he will continue his recuperation on a daily basis. It is estimated that it will be at least 6 weeks before Russ will be able to stand on his legs. This really hurts Russ as we all know he is a great musician and he will not be able to play any instrument during this recuperating time. We all know that Russ is one of the staff bass players at the International Steel Guitar Convention and he tells me he will not be able to play-if he is able to attend it at all. Tom Brumley is substituting for Russ at his Hank Williams show.
Russ is at the Cox South hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was unable to provide me with an address or phone number. We all will have Russ in our prayers for a speedy recovery. Scotty

I just talked to Russ a few minuets ago, 4:00 PM to be exact. He is in very good sprits and is very humbled by everyone's concern. His surgery on the shoulder and hip will be performed on Friday. I will list the telephone numbers of the hospital and also direct into his room should any of you want to call him to wish him well.
My buddy Russ is going to have major surgery and can certainly use our prayers.

I called Cox Hospital in Springfield to see what room he was in, and they told me they didn't have a Weaver. Are you sure he is not in Skaggs Hospital in Branson?

Russ's last name is spelled "Wever", maybe that's why you couldn't find him.
