Bob Nolen, who wrote many of the Sons Of The Pioneers songs and sang so beautifally, was a Canadian from New Brunswick, Canada. I can hear his influence in Marty Robbins singing style. One of my favourite Sons Of The Pioneers songs is "One More Ride".

In that picture, isn't that Roy Rogers on the left?

Leonard Slye(AKA Dick Weston & Roy Rogers) was the founding member of the Pioneers along with Tim Spencer and Clarence Robert Nobles(Bob Nolan). When they became the Sons Of the Pioneers they added Karl & Hugh Farr on guitar and fiddle.

L-to-R are: Karl Farr, Bob Nolan (on bass fiddle), Tim Spencer, Hugh Farr, and Len Slye

I'd like to hear a remaster of Marty Robins singing "Among my Souvenirs" with a twin steel solo... Or wait a minute... maybe it had that. The music that was recorded and the stuff I hear in my head are sometimes identical and sometimes completely different... Thank you Jack Daniels.

"Blue Prairie" always made chills up my back. I still have some Sons of the Pioneers records somewhere. I think I'll dig them out. They were great!
