Jon, Bob, Gerald, Lawrence, Drew, and everyone else who owns a bar and at least two finger picks should make it a point to attend. Whatta ya say? Hear some steel and let's have a couple a' beers.

Come on up. When I drink, EVERBODY drinks!!!

Not only do I own a bar, I can often be found in one. The one similarity between the two is that neither situation ends up pretty.
I'll be there. Maybe I'll learn something. As of now I am a steel show virgin. I must be saving it for marriage or something.

Jody, the last time John shaved his beard, there were a family of homeless sparrows hanging around the Doubletree. (he's gonna ring my neck at the show for this)

BTW, the DT has a swimming pool. Those who are bringing their less than enthusiastic significant others, can always drop them off in the pool.

Lawrence, I look forward to meeting you.

Listen guys, honestly. I've been trying to grow my beard long enough to comb it over my head, but, my glasses keep falling off every time I sneeze.

The last time John shaved his beard, none of us here in the bunker noticed any difference. (I believe he was somewhat disturbed by our reaction or lack of same).

That's because we respect John for the person he is, the way he plays steel and his dedication to making our annual show a success.

John is Vice President of the PSGA and he continues to carry on the tradition of the organization. I could care less how hairy he is on the chin it's what he's done that counts. I believe that both he and I would much prefer to have the hair on top of our head but it ain't about to happen.

I think The Hair Club For Men has a booth this year at the PSGA SHOW, next to Joe Wright. Just think, you can sit down to a Fessenden, get Joe Wright's instructional videos, and get a weave at the same time. By the end of the weekend, you'll be ready to gig at your local gin mill. Sign me up!

Moving right along, this show has some great features that are unique.

The large screen video that shows the players hands on the neck(s). This is a great learning tool as well as showing the different styles and technique of each player.

The question & answer segment. Where else can you ask some of the best players on this planet anything that you like? Want to ask Joe Wright about pick blocking? Go ahead. Want to ask John Hughey what he had for lunch? Be our guest.

The Saturday night super jam.....a tour de force of the best round robbin steel playing that boggles the mind and toggles the senses.

Be there or be square....

Less than two weeks away. My bags are all packed and my car is all filled up with "high test" gasoline.

Message for "Fooch": I want you to be on your best behavior and hold that violin bow properly. I'm bringing my daughter (a classical violinist) and I want her to be impressed with our country picking.

Can you all believe that our friend Dick Lee from up state New York is going to miss this premier steel show. He's been mumbling about some hunting trip. GOOD GREIF!!!!

Hunting! Hunting! Did someone mention hunting? I once left the show, on Sunday after it was over, and went straight to the hunting camp, so I could make opening morning. Talk about being dragged out tired. I think I slept as a whole herd went by.

I understand that steel guitars on display will be Fessenden, GFI, and Lamar? Am I correct?

Merle,

Let's see, holding the bow properly... that'd be with my right hand, right?

Impressing a classical violinist... that's a lot tougher. Maybe I can work in a harmonic minor scale... if I can find a harmonica...

Seriously, it's quite a thrill to get to play fiddle with some of my heroes and all the great players. I try to absorb all I can, but when I sit back down at my steel... I still sound like me.

Howard, yes, Jerry, Gene and Lamar have rented display space and will have their products on display. We get inquiries each year from players who want to bring various steel guitar equipment to the show which they have for sale.

We are not running a flea market. We are unable to accomodate such requests and will not tolerate any variance of our policy. This Forum has a wonderful section for selling used gear. The PSGA Newsletter also is a good vehicle for selling used gear in our classified ads, which are free to PSGA members.

I'll agree with Joe Casey. Jim Roule is a fantastic,Steeler, and 6 string player!!! I wish I could be there to hear him do his thing. If he drives his 18 wheeler as good as he picks, he's a hell of a truck driver!!!

Fooch,
It's nice to see you on the forum. Actually I'm sure my daughter will be very impressd. She's a great violinist and can read music fluently, however, she's always amazed when she hears someone, like you, take an unrehearsed solo at a split seconds notice and never seem to run out of notes. Michelle and I agree that one must aquire a certain talent to play an instrument comfortably but it is yet another talent to be able to compose and play a tastfull melody "on the fly", a talent which you, my friend, have. We'll be sure to speak to you at the show. See you all there. Merle

PS As far as you sounding like yourself on steel, don't forget, we heard you last year. I wish myself sounded like yourself.

Great news! Just had a communication from the great Buddy Cage, advising us that he plans on attending our 30th Annual PSGA show in Norwalk, CT this weekend. He will not perform, but he intends to be present either on Nov. 8th or 9th. This is a great bit of news, especially for dedicated Cage fans.

Lawrence, you'll need your green cards, you know, the ones with the presidents pictures on them.... those will entitle you to a handshake, a pat on the back (if you're one of the first 25 people), and a cup of water, gratis...

Well, does anyone have anything else to say about it before we all head for Norwalk? We should be arriving fri. at about 9:00 PM or as Lester "Roadhog" Moran would say: "nine O'clock PM at night." Sooooooo, I would guess at about 9:05 you can look for us at the local diner.

Merle, at 9 pm Friday you will probably find us in the Doubletree Ballroom working our buns off to ready the show for Saturday at noon. Drop by when you check in. It's always good to see you.

Hint: Most of the name players assemble there at that time to shoot the breeze and set up their booths.
