53. Many of the players around the Portland area are not on the forum. I would guess the average age to be around 57. That would include about 25 players I could think of off the top of my head. |

Turned 60 on Feb.17 '00. Like others have said, I wish I'd started playing earlier. Then I wouldn't have minded lifting and dragging the guitar around...I probably would be able to play something by now too! I love it! Regards. Gord |

My children, who are beginning steel players, are 11 and 13, respectively. I am 33 and also a beginner. Don't sound very good but we have fun playing. ------------------ |

56 in November, started pickin six string guitar at 12, discovered pedal steel at 36, and I love it. Now I'm waiting for Keith Hilton to invent a box to correct bloppers before they get from my finger tips to the amp. ------------------ |

Nearly 70 years old and still picking on my old ZB weekends. Trying to figure a way to take it with me when I go. Started playing 6 nights a week in 1945 and have never stopped playing. I knew I wanted to play pedal steel when I met Alvino Rey in 1944 and became friends with him. My steel guitar teacher introduced me to him and that was all it took. I was hooked for life. |
