You may remember the post a few months back where a member from the Netherlands said he paid $4500 cash in advance for a new Emmons. He is now disabled and would like to sell it, even though it has not yet been delivered. The post was closed, thru no fault of his own. I think it turned into an argument of if the guitar even existed. He trusted Emmons and expected them to work with him. Today I recieved this email form him: quote: " they didn't pay me back my $4500 the case is with the attorney general but till today they didn't respond till them I can't find the words, but this is what I never had expected from a company... well just to let you know that this or my writing on the forum wasn't just air but honestly true. greetings cor
If anyone could find the original post, please post it. Of course, Cor is welcome to post here.

http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum5/HTML/008225.html I think this is the one you want Joey. I can tell you guys that Cor is the most honest man in The Netherlands when it comes to a fair deal.He delivered me some great steel guitar parts that he had no use for.I took them of his hands for a small amount of money.I got 2 endplates,2George L's66,2fretboards(Emmons),2aluminum necks(Emmons)and i paid the man(i think)$300...could be a bit more...but not much. What i want to say is that this man needs our support. If you see this message Cor Please give me a call.

That's it. Thanks Ron.I now recall what happened. The post was closed because Rebecca Lashley requested b0b close it. b0b on vacation and sent me an email requesting I close it. Anyway the matter is not resolved. I don't understand why folks pay cash in advance for anything. |

Overhere in The Netherlands it's normal to do business this way. But at one thing you are right...This is to much money to pay in one time.Even if the Emmons company has a good name. And they do HAVE a good name.I like their Steel guitars.Heck....i owned a couple of them. You know....i am in contact with "Mister Papic" the man with the Promat steels..He only charges a 500 Euro deposid on the P/P.That's about 18%-20%.A fair deal i think.Ron |

20% sounds fair. Ed Fulawaka has no downpayment. He'll sell it to the next on his list if you don't honor your comittment.BTW, my emails to Cor get returned undeliverable. |

I don't think it is right to close a thread because of a request from a company being "raked over the coals" for lousy business practices. If it was closed because b0b thought it was getting way out of hand (which I don't think it was), that is one thing ,but to close it because Emmons (Rebecca) wanted closed is wrong in my opinion. After reading the old post again, I believe that if Emmons can provide proof that Cor's guitar actually has been built (actually finished and sitting in a corner somewhere collecting dust), then Emmons should have the right to wait until the guitar is sold before paying back the money. If it has not been built, then Cor should receive a refund (maybe minus a cancellation charge). The key here is proof that the guitar exists at Emmons. My suggestion to Cor is to take delivery of the guitar and try to sell it. I don't think Emmons is going to put any effort into selling your guitar for you. Why should they? They already have his money. ------------------ Carter D10 9p/10k, NV400

I don't believe Cor is "Slinging Crap". In his original post http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum5/HTML/008225.html he said he tried many times to contact them. He also said he paid $4500 last Decemember. When the post was closed, he respectfully kept it off the Forum. Only recently did he write to me to inform me the matter is still not resolved. I am the one that posted his update. IMO, an Emmons dealer on this side of the pond should take possession of this guitar and sell it on Cor's behalf. Normal consignment charges will apply. If he doesn't want to pay consignment fees, the guitar should be shipped to him and he can sell it himself. |

Farris, this is NOT the first time that people have come on the forum with problems about Emmons guitar company. After hearing what I've heard, I would not do business with them. Good intentions does not negate questionable business practices. |

If Cor has in fact lost money on this deal, it's a dern shame. And I hope that he is able to recover his money. But, what is the point of starting this all over again? Cor, if you haven't already, get a lawyer and start the process of getting your money back. If you sent money in the mail, you may have a basis for mail fraud (and you may want to contact the USPS to get their suggestion as to how to proceed). If you used a credit card, dispute the charge. You will almost certainly get a resolution this way. Unless someone pops up on here to say they will contact Ron on your behalf, I'm not sure what this thread will accomplish. The fact is, we only have one side of the story, and there is no obligation (or expectation) for Emmons Steel Guitar Co. to come on to a public forum to resolve a private issue. Again, I really hope that if Cor did lose money, that he gets his money back and that the Emmons Steel Guitar Co. is reprimanded. If the Emmons Steel Guitar Co. is without fault in this case (we don't know their story), then I hope that those facts come to light. In either case, I just hope this gets settled one way or other....but the facts today are that nothing has changed. Not really much left to say until something happens.... Joe |

If I was Ron Or Rebecca I most certainly would have posted something on this subject before now. If they are trying to save the company their customer relations are deplorable.,they allegedly cannot deliver the goods and they are in no way trying to clarify the situation. as Crowbear said there are two sides to the story, Come on Rebecca SPEAK UP, I am not making any judgements on this issue but the Lashleys do not look good by maintaining silence.I have an Emmons guitar which I think is fantastic Best regards Billy

At this time there are very cheap airfares from Europe to ther USA around $350. I think Cor should forget lawyers and come over here himself and go to Emmons factory and confront them directly and demand his money or his guitar.. |

It may be hard to get the money. I'm sure it has been spent on past due bills and materials. I believe Emmons is still producing guitars, so why won't they just build the guitar they owe Cor. This has the classic sign of a company about to go under. They have no cash to refund Cor, or pay for materials for commited orders. They are probably on C.O.D. with vendors. That's why it take forever to get one. Cor might want to make that trip. His guitar may not be built, but I would walk out of there with something. If they go under, Cor and others who put up cash will be left in the cold. The major vendors get dibs on assests first. |

Cor, sent me a email copy from another dealer, who is on this forum, where he offered to buy the steel from Emmons, so they could refund Cor's money, AND he was told at that time a month or so back, that the guitar wasn't even built at that time, So how can Cor sell a guitar or anyone buy it, when it wasn't even built? Was Emmons company at the convention selling steels this year? If so why didnt they send Cor the steel he ordered in 2003? Seems like Emmons did this same thing to some other fellows a while back, Looks like people would learn by now on how they do business, DON'T deal with them directly, go through a dealer..or buy something else instead.. Billy.....

Cor! dear friend,This is a very sad situation. I am sorry for maybe giving you bad advice about flying over here to sort it out. I did not realise that you are now disabled. Would you even be able to fly over here? How badly are you disabled? Perhaps we should start a fund to help our dear friend Cor! Has anyone got any better ideas how to help our dear friend who is disabled and 4000 miles awy from the problem? |

In Chattanooga we have a news channel called "Three on your side" with their tv cameras etc. They solve disputes by showing up at the business with the client. They get the facts and act as arbitrors. There is no charge for this services. They have solved many disputes in an equitable manner. |
