Can some one kindly tell me what the most common/accepted set-up is for C6th?? I gutted my C6th a long time ago, as I usually play it WITHOUT pedals, but now I feel like experimenting with it a little. I have 4 pedals that I can dedicate to that neck, and with 6 levers, I can use what I need there. Thanx in advance. |

If you look at Jimmy Day's C6 setup, that's about the minimum. P4 in that setup is the one people generally can do without, but it's noteworthy that both Buddy Emmons and Jimmy Day kept it. Emmons also began tuning the first string to D (YEARS ago), so that's another minor difference. Buddy Emmons' C6 setup includes a lever to raise 3, one to raise 4, and one to lower 4 in addition. Some players prefer to also raise the octave lower strings (7 and 8). Most players have something between the Day and Emmons pedals and levers. I think if you look at the standard setups from Carter, Sierra, Emmons, and other mfgrs you'll find that the Day setup (maybe without the first string lower on P5) is pretty close to that. ------------------ [This message was edited by Larry Bell on 23 August 2001 at 05:57 PM.] |

Thanx Larry. If I had thought to look under tunings, I would have had the answer without having to post the question. (Major brain fart.) Thanx. C YA |

C ALLEN DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE 6 KNEES THAT WILL WORK ON C-6th OR 6 KNEES TOTAL?DO YOU WANT A G NOTE OR D NOTE ON THE 1st STRING? THESE QUESTIONS WOULD IMPACT WHAT I PUT ON THE PEDALS AND KNEES.THE BASIC SET-UP IS:
A LOT OF PLAYERS HAVE DROPPED PEDAL 4 AND PUT 8 NEXT TO 5,NOW YOU DONT HAVE TO JUMP YOUR FOOT FROM 5 TO 8 BACK AND FORTH IN THE SONG HOLD-IT.IF YOU PUT PEDAL 6 ON A KNEE NOW YOU WILL HAVE 5 NEXT TO 7 AND YOU WONT COME OFF THE VOLUME PEDAL TO HIT 7.I HOPE THIS HELPS SOME. yes Don, I run a "G" on the top. I also put that dumb Franklin 4th on pedal 4, but that's gonna go. To me it's useless. I have six levers that I CAN use, but am more likely to use only 2, unless I put the "wrist lever" on my guitar. Actually, I was gonna experiment with some "vintage" type tunings, with the addition of some pedals, to help enable my laziness. |

Donald, the instructions for posting tab and charts are in the help file at http://steelguitarforum.com/ubbcode.html Also, it would be good to turn off your "Caps Lock" key. Messages in all caps are hard to read. ------------------ |
