Hi everybody,
I just got some scary news from Hal. I talked to him about 30 minutes ago,(Wed, 11th 5:15).
About a month ago he had an MRI and found a spot on his lung. It looked in-active. About a week ago they did a CT and the spot was still there. So, they did a biopsy and it came back cancerous.
Hal is trying to get appointments with 3 other Drs to get their opinions and decide what to do and what prodedures to take. He said that it was in-operable unless thay take the whole lung out.
Hal ask me if I would post it on the forum so that everyone would have the same details
at the same time as opposed to trying to call everyone and the story getting twisted
and out of shape.
He said that it would be at least a week before he can get in to see these other Drs
so it will be at least that long before we know anything.
Hal said that he would keep me posted and I can let you know.
Please remember to keep our friend in your prayers for a speedy recovery.
PS Hal said that the form of cancer was non-small-cell, meaning that it is the slower
growing cancer.

John, thank you for posting this about Hal.
All of us that know Hal, know what he went through with Vicky and I know that is weighing heavy on his mind with this new discovery about himself.

Linda and I will add Hal to our daily prayer list and would encourage others to do the same. We KNOW prayer works.

Please keep us up to date. I will wait and call Hal a little later.

Thanks
Bill Ferguson

John, Thanks for the update.
Hal told me about this while I was in Phoenix last month, and I could tell he was a little concerned, but dang, this is bad news...

He will certainly be added to our prayers and I only wish our friend the best...

Johns Hopkins is the place for Hal to go, "Steelin for the Hearts" used to be one of their sponsers. Check with someone from "Steelin for the Hearts" for a reference. I think Hal played there once, they owe him!

Hal Rugg is a fine person and one of America's greatest steel guitar players ever!

Hal you will be in our prayers. I hope you do not mind but I am going to pray Scriptures for you.

Jesus said in John's Gospel:

John 14:13-14

"And whatsoever ye shall ask in My Name (JESUS CHRIST'S NAME) that will I do, that THE FATHER may be glorified in THE SON. If ye shall ask any thing in My Name, I will do it."

Those are really powerful words, but they come from THE MASTER, who holds the Universe together. Everyting is under HIS feet, by HIS BLOOD and by HIS HOLY NAME, we are free.

DEAR HEAVENLY FATHER,LORD JESUS AND HOLY SPIRIT. We pray for YOUR healing touch for our brother Hal Rugg. All things are possible with YOU GOD. Because of YOUR LOVE and YOUR MERCY, we ask for healing for Hal Rugg.

And we will be very careful to give YOU alone all of the praise, the honor and the glory! IN JESUS CHRIST'S ALL POWERFUL NAME! AMEN!

I will pray , Hal, that you will be completly healed.

Don't rush into anything, get a lot of opinions. See Dr.Weil in Tucson.....al

Hal, my prayers are certainly with you. I hope you know you are one of my favorite steel players and you have always been so kind to me at the steel shows and "jams". I will also put you on the prayer list of our Gospel group when we play at different Churches Sunday nights. There is a little lady in Gentry, Ar. who is a regular fan of our opry show who has a very large prayer chain and I will let her know as well. Anyone who has ever played at the Springtown Church in Gentry knows who I am referring to. Hal, prayer works when you have real problems, I know that from experience. The prayers of this Forum undoubtedly help very much when I was facing heart reconstruction surgery three years ago. Please hang tough and beat this.
Your friend,
Jerry

Hang in there Hal.With a positive attitude and all modern medicine has to offer, you have a great chance of complete recovery. As someone who spent most of last summer in cancer treatment myself I can tell you - no treatment or procedure is as rough as you anticipate and they are quite succesful a vast majority of the time.Get the best doctors you can find and take it one day at a time. -MJ-
