![]() PSGA Show Player schedule change for Sunday, Nov. 13th! Since 3 of our Nashville based players have early evening flights from NY City back home to Nashville we've had to modify the originally posted schedule. The new Sunday sked is at: All of our shows are subject to schedule changes due to situations over which we have no control. Sorry for any confusion. |

![]() Never mind the great steel playing next weekend, wait to you see the new Doubletree hotel. Total renovation & only been open for about 4 months. And what do you mean Howard my brother can sing? What are you trying to say about my vocals? Next thing you guys will start talking about my father's singing. Let's keep our focus here! ![]() Yes, a versatile group indeed with both Jeff & Nick Sr.(guitar) on vocals. Why I gave Nick Jr. first mention....I'm not well versed in country music. I like and hear it a lot at the shows, but I don't really listen to it outside of the shows. I've heard "A way To Survive" a thousand times on steel, and some others sing it, but it was background music to me. Last year when I heard Nick sing that song, and he has some pipes, I fell in love with that song. When a vocalist can have that effect on a listener, they have accomplished the ultimate goal in their art. [This message was edited by HowardR on 04 November 2005 at 05:52 AM.] |

![]() Gunsmoke in concert will be on before our super JAM session on the Saturday night portion of the show. I am glad Nick Sr's (Pop)name came up as I have a listener request for him to sing Lou Rochelle & Doodle Owens masterpiece "There's Still A Lot Of Love In San Antone." That listener is coming up from the southland for the show. If you have not heard Gunsmoke do this in person it is very interesting and different from Nick's great recording. ------------------ |

![]() Thanks for the kind works Mike - look foward to hearing some of your great radio/internet program Swingin' West at 1pm today. I was just joking Howard, I'm certainly lucky to be playing behind a vocalists like my brother Nick & father for all these years - don't tell them I said that. |

![]() Jeff, It will be my pleasure to have you out there listening at one (eastern) this afternoon. In fact, I would love as many as you all as possible to join us. We are talking about Jeff's dad and brother's voice but Jeff has a fantastic voice for Western Swing and Blues stuff himself. When he does "New Road Under My Wheels" Bottle Baby Boogie" "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" "Crazy", etc, he will totally blow you away. He is that good also! ------------------ [This message was edited by Mike Gross on 04 November 2005 at 07:39 AM.] |

![]() I will miss Mike's show today because I have an afternoon gig while his show is on, but I'll be there in spirit. Jeff sure does have a fine voice and how he can play and sing behind that steel and still know what he's doing is beyond me. I've tried it many times and I have given up on it and just play the steel. See you next Friday Jeff. Don |

![]() All of the DeMaio family are extremely talented musicians and vocalists. God Bless Nick Sr., if it were not for him inviting his sons to join him making music, there probably would not be a Gunsmoke Band in CT. They are by far, THE most popular classic country band in the Northeast. They are tight, have excellent musicians who are fine folks on or off the bandstand (That's the key to a good group) and they have an audience envied by every other country band in the Northeast. We are proud to be part of their family and proud that they allow us to be part of theirs! You'll not be disappointed in attending the Saturday Night PSGA event with a performance by Gunsmoke. A close friend of mine who resides in Westport, CT is a big band and classical music fan. Someone talked him into attending a Gunsmoke concert in Westport this summer. He told me that during their first set he was singing along with them. The music was so good that he remembered the lyrics to all those country tunes that Gunsmoke provided. He'll be attending the show. |

![]() Just got the final room count for our event from the Doubletree Hotel. A total of 128 rooms booked as of today. Wow! Looks like a very good turnout. Thanks to everyone who have taken the initiative to join us. We've been doing this for 32 years with marginal results. I can't imagine what the next 32 years will bring forth. (But I'll probably not be around to see it or else I'll be one of the oldest steel players in the Guinness Book of Records) |
Jody Carver Member From: The Knight Of Fender Tweed~ Dodger Blue Forever |
![]() Bob you wrote and I quote the President I'll be one of the oldest steel players in the Guinness Book of Records) No Way I'm older than you The Spirit of 76 has spoken. See you soon, I beleive this will be one of if not the best PSGA shows ever with all those great steel players 7 days to go. |

![]() "A total of 128 rooms booked as of today" Holy cow! This is going to be a blast. Question; When the hotel was renovated, was the ballroom enlarged? Sounds like we could be near capacity. I think we owe Jody Carver a big thanks for keeping us all hyped up about this show. I know I'm really looking foreward to it. |

![]() Rereading my post, I want to make sure no one hesitates about going because of my "sounds like we could be near capacity" comment. It's a pretty big place and I'm sure it'll hold us all. The more the better. It's going to be a killer show, don't miss it!!! [This message was edited by Merle Record on 05 November 2005 at 04:08 PM.] |

![]() OK Howard, it's pretty hard to stay ahead of you. ![]() I will henceforth call it the "auditorium". |
Bob Maickel Member From: Floral Park, NY |
![]() No the Ballroom has not been enlarged (I've not seen it yet) but according to all first hand reports the entire facility has been re-done with the addition of a full service restaurant. Doubletree is part of the Hilton chain and they don't skimp. The folks we've dealt with at Doubletree have more than met our demands and requests. There was a slight problem and they fixed it on the reservations for our event. |

![]() Don't get turned off by a large audience!!!! We have had a full house in the past but we still do get everybody into the show and it still has the small group feeling even with a packed house. You can still get to hear, see and talk to the legends. ------------------ |

![]() Mike You hit the nail on the head. I've been to the ISGC and I like the up close and more relaxed atmosphere of the PSGA shows. And as you say you get to chat with the steel greats and I've even had the pleasure of eating out with some in the past. Don't miss this one. See you there in 5 days. Don |

When I get threw with you you will say how did I get all the trouble from that little guy.HaYou will be in BIG trouble if you don't bring that Sho Bud Fret Board. Hey every one you watch out for that Merle Record fella he forgets his equipment and I will be right behind him to claim it.HA See you all there Saturday. Sam White |

![]() Part of the new renovation allows the north wall of the ballroom to open into the fruit & vegatable dept of Costco. Spillover from the show will have to share space with the avacados, melons, and cruditie platters. I hear that the sound is very good there as opposed to the meats dept. All & all, should be a great show. |

Bob Maickel Member From: Floral Park, NY |
![]() Craig: There ain'y nothing "chessey" about our shows. I have the paid bills to prove it! BTW, PSGA member Ronnie Miller (Charlie Pride's steelman) will be in the audience for our show on Saturday. He'll be backing Charlie on November 14th at the Carnegie Hall "Country in New York" concert. The CMA awards will take place in Madison Square Garden and there's lots of country music events in the Big Apple the week of our PSGA show. About time that country came back to NYC. We are still getting phone calls from folks who need room reservations. Good luck to them! |
