I am not sure if this post belongs in this section. But I would like to tell you about a man that became one of my best friends.I have been a member of this great forum in 1998 I think. After a long time of not playing because of financial problems I decided to become a member again.I did not have the money to buy me a steel so I tried to build one. After my first steel I wanted to build more steels and try to give my family some more financial space.I did build some steels and sold them and we went on vacation from the profit I made.A couple of months ago I ran into a man here on the forum and we started to mail each other. He told me in the many conversations we had that he build some steel guitars in his early years. And that he had some parts left that I could have if I wanted them.I could take these parts and let a foundry cast me some more.I found a foundry that is willing to provide me with the neccesary parts. This means that I can build all the steels that I want.
I can build all kinds now. From S10's to D10's.Even Universals will be no problem anymore. The man that made this possible is Farris Currie.I cannot thank the man enough for what he did.He even shipped the parts without costs.
I just wanted you people to know what a great guy this man is.Having heart problems and his sick wife does not bother him when it comes to helping out a fellow steel player.Right now I am trying to get me the money to visit him in a couple of months.
For me he is one of the greatest people here on the forum and I know that there are many.
Thank you Farris for returning our dreams.

Ron.

This man rides out hurricanes like Texans ride broncs. I survived a Texas tornado and he survived a Fla. hurricane the same day.We both walked away with our lives that day miles apart, this is what I remember when I think of Farris.

Yes....old Ferris is a great guy.
But we now have to drive a hundred miles away to find a possum, they are very scarce around here.I wonder if you was to run a Armidillo through the dish washer with some bleach if it would tase about the same ?
Jennings might have a clue on that one .

Farris, Could you post me a picture of a possum? you see we don`t get any this far east and I kinda wondered what they looked like?? If your unable to catch one I would settle for a sketch and some information.
ie. would one possum feed four ex-wives??
Many thanks, your friend in the UK.

Hey Crow Bear,
Thanks for the info those links were really good!!!!!
Farris how could you!!??????
Just look into the eyes of those beautiful little creatures!!!!!! I am deeply shocked!

"Home on the range

The opossum ranges across nearly all the United States (except some of the most arid regions) and even thrives as far north as southern Canada. And in spite of the constant threat of death from predators, parasites,Farris, and the ever-present automobile, he seems to be slowly expanding his range even farther. "

John, as cruel as it may be, Possum is an American delicacy
the natives were cookin' up stuff like possum long before the Europeons made it over here.
while in the States, i ate snake, dog, squirrel, moose, bear, badger, mountain sheep, buffalo, racoon & eventually got to steelin' so i keep this on topic
edited : here in France, the hedgehog is appreciated

when you real hongry, everythang is good.

now get pickin' !

edited: that last possum don't seem to like the law
wonder what they hauled him in for ?
maybe he attacked Farris in his sleep
