While going through some old literature, I found an old Sho~Bud brochure that showed a double-neck with 6 pedals. Nine strings on the inside neck, and sixteen on the outside neck!Wonder what happened to that one?

Donny, I'm restoring a Sho-Bud Triple neck 11, 11, 16 that was supposed to have been made for Bobby Garrett. Finger tip changers, cabinet ends and 11 pedals (3 on the 16 string neck) 2 knees. The 16 was strung like an 8 string with 2 courses for each note, like a 12 string guitar. I'm sorry I didn't take any photos before I took it and my T-10 Marlin apart.

I was digging through some stuff last nite and came across some old Sho Bud literature and there were pictures of some 16 string pedal steels. Boy, the fret boards were pretty short--the tuning heads took up most of the neck. What a deal! Erv

Erv, the keyhead is 10 1/4" long, the fret board is 16 1/2" to the 24th fret and it's a 22" scale. It doesn't have rollers on the nut and strings 5 thru 14 have changer fingers. What I don't get is each two of them share a pull rod, which means that they both get pulled the same amount with the obvious tuning consequences. So at the risk of offending the purists, I may make some minor changes underneith. It's a nice sounding guitar.

About all I can say is: "What a collection of strange birds!!!!"Chas- HOW can someone fit 11 pedals onto a pedal bar bracket, and still have them far enough apart to mash them separately? Was the old Sho~Bud bracket longer than that of my Carter? Lincoln

The overall length of the pedal rack is 34 1/2", the width of the pedals themselves is 26 7/8", this is a 'fingertip' guitar so it has the 3 skinny E9 pedals in between the 3 for the 16 and the 5 for the C6.Pictures of the finished guitar are a ways off. Vance Terry's pink Wright had 20 pedals I believe.[This message was edited by chas smith on 14 December 2001 at 04:23 PM.]
