"GANG" You will be recieving e-mail notices about our Association. Dues were approved for $10.00 a year. You can send your check made payable to ASGA, to our Treasurer, Don Lynch, 1578 Delmar Dr. Prattville, Al 36067. First Shoow February 26th at The Hank Williams Museum, 118 Commerce St, Montgomery, Al. We have reserved a book of rooms at The Guests House Inn, 120 Madison, Ave, Montgomery, Al 36105. Ask for Alabama Steel Guitar Association rate which is $44.95 or $50.57 with Tax. Motel is only a couple of blocks from Museum and is in walking distance. We have just confirmed another Nashville picker and singer. This is going to be a great Show.

Between Russ Hicks' playing and Bill Simmons' good looks, we should have a good turn out! But, on a serious note, I do look better than Bill! And my Fessenden plays better! Especially the 1'st pedal and the LKR! Just Kidding!

Hey GANG!! Our "FIRST LADY" DON'T PUT NO HURTS ON THE EYES EITHER. I am sure Laney and Russ will have a very Special Performance planned. We have some more surprises ahead. "STAY TUNED" This is going to go down as one of The Best Shows Ever.

Folks, the emails and phone calls have been cookin' up some stuff. I'm waiting on an OK from Bill Cook, but do we have another suprise in store for this show.

We started looking into the strong heritage this state has for "The Best" steel players in the world. Please forgive me for not including everyone, but this will give you a good idea: Jimmy Day, Curly Chalker, Don Helms, Julian Tharpe, Lloyd Green and so many others. This is the "ice breaker".

Bill, thanks again for getting this thing started. It was way overdue. I know the people I've talked to are really excited about what you've started. It's been great seeing the energy that everybody is putting into it. That's what it takes. I'm glad to be a small part of it!

I sure wish I could spill the beans on WHAT I KNOW!!!

I would be remiss not to include Don Davis in the list of GREAT PLAYERS from our state. I have such a finite knowledge of our states heritage with steel players. I will continue to recognize players as they are brought to my attention. And plaese, let me know!

I'm really sad that I have to miss this ground breaking event. It's sure to be a winner of a show. Hopefully I'll catch the next one.

Bill, Fred Cronier is from Montgomery he played Steel Guitar with the band for Governor Big Jim Folsom both times he ran for office. yes big Jim had a country music band playing as he shook the corn shuck mop in the air. Fred played with us at the American guitar studio, back in the 40's.

Dr. Rickles,
Show starts promptly at 10.00 Sunday Morning. We will need you there about 0945 to kick off the event with a prayer. The Saturday night Jam will start around 5.00 at the Guest House Hotel, 120 Madison Ave, just a couple of blocks from the Museum. The admissions to the show will be $10.00. This is a bargain since the regular admission for the Museum is $8.00. People will be able to tour the Museum from 1.00 till 4.00. included with the $10.00 show ticket. Now some of the players who are confirmed

Don Helms with Chris Malpass
Ron Elliott
Bill Ferguson
Larry Moore
Roger Crawford
Jack Goodson
Bill Simmons
Don Lynch
Rob Parker
Terry Wood
Tyler Hall
Russ and Laney Hicks
Lynn Owlsly

These are confirmed. The times are not. We will also have a person inducted into the ASGA Hall of Fame, along with some other awards. Rooms are availiable at $50.57, walking out price at The Guest House Hotel & Suites. There will be a Warm Up, informal Jam at the Hotel at 5.00 Saturday night. Every one, Come On Down. This is really going to be a great show.

The pattern is full, in fact over full for Sunday. We have had many many players that would like to play. Saturday night Jam is still wide open if you can attend it. We definitely will have you a playing slot for our next function. I want all the gang to hear you pick on that C6th neck. Will see you Sunday in Atlanta.

They say it's best to cook the young pigs first, to see if the fire is right for the hogs! I gotta strange feelin' Tyler will be just fine! I know one thing, I wouldn't want to be in line behind him; maybe with a real long delay (time, not digital).
