"Well, Sunday's are important to me as well. Personally, I find it important to worship, praise and to give thanks daily. I even enjoy visiting other congregations. Would it be worth considering that any Sunday events to include one of our pastors to share a message, have some good gospel steel/vocals?"

INTERESTING, thought, Tim. I enjoy Sunday worship, too. I also enjoy playing guitar in church, although that's certainly not my main reason for attending, nor do I substitute my church playing for other performance outlets. I simply enjoy using my talent to goive God a little extra, if I can.
As far as the Saluda show is concerned, I don't much think Sunday shows were pioneered there. I am now a part of the Saluda staff, and had the privilege of speaking/holding a brief devotional at the November show. Didn't get to speak February, since I had to work---But work falls into another category, doesn't it?
But I've taken another job, one that frees me up on the weekends, for church--AND, to attend the Saluda show! And, for what it's worth, Charles and I have discussed it--I'm gonna be speaking at EVERY Sunday show from now on, cause it's a real blessing for me---and a lot of other people, from all reports.
So thanks to all the Alabama steelers who've supported Saluda, as well as those folks who use their talents in true worship of the Almighty!

Hey Stephen....glad you will have all of your Sundays free. You have no excuse to not be with us in June for the next Georgia Peach Jam! And you will be welcomed to speak whatever God lays on your heart. No, it won't be in church, but where two or more are gathered....

Sadly, that is true for far too many Americans! Some have said that America is now in a Post-Christian era.

quote:
No, it won't be in church, but where two or more are gathered....

Let's see if I can finish that verse:

Where two or three are gathered together to exalt self on the Lord's Day, there am I (God) in the midst.

or maybe...

Where two or three are gathered together to sing and play drinking and cheating songs on the Lord's Day, there am I (God) in the midst.

Hmmm....

Frank,
I've got a deal for you. Saturday (yes, I said SATURDAY!) April 8th, there is a show in Gray, GA that I have a playing slot on steel. I will also be involved with the show as one of two drummers in the staff band. It will obviously be a busy day for me. If you will accept, I will let you have my steel slot. You can play any type of music the Lord lays on your heart, give you personal testimony, or since it's Saturday, play cheatin' & drinkin' songs. I'll even buy your lunch and throw in a complimentary membership to the Georgia Steel Guitar Association! Let me know so I can get you on the play list.
Regards,
Roger

Thank you for the offer (I think). I have to play outside in Grant, Alabama that day backing up great voice, Glen (Jim) Whitaker, so I must decline. It is really not about me getting to play. It is about the one-day steel shows choosing only Sunday as the day. It is about my concern for America's spiritual condition.

Like I said, on the positive side I will save time and money as I cannot attend those Sunday shows.

Tyler, I do not know him. There is this lady named Margie that will sing with us and I think she lives in Grant. She can really sing! Does a great job on the Connie Smith tune.

I found out that the April 8 job is going to be at a school in Grant and it is a benefit for someone who has cancer. There will be multiple bands. To hear Glen and Margie along with Wanny on guitar will be worth it. I will be making twangy sounds with my 78 Emmons.

An attempt to ask a question without asking it Stevie? Do not know what the list is, not that it matters...They will wing it most likely. I am a sub.

Perhaps at the end of it, I will speak from the gospel according to Steve!

Hi Bill,
It would bless me and be an honor to give a devotional, speak or preach a message on any
Sunday we have meetings. I would like Friday or Saturdays better but I believe the Lord would have us get together and felowship
together. After all He died for all of us. Those in church and those who aren't.If someone dosen't want to or can't come.We should not be offended at that either.

WELL I INTEND ON BECOMING A MEMBER AND ANTICIPATE COMING TO SOME IF NOT ALL THE JAMS. MYSELF I WOULD PREFER FRIDAYS OF SATURDAYS BECAUSE I AM THE MUSIC LEADER AT MY CHURCH SO FOR ME TO GET AWAY ON SUNDAYS WOULD BE DIFFICULT. I WISH ALL CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS MUCH SUCCESS BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO SEE THE SHOW CIRCUIT COME TO AN END.

If ya'll will tell me the key, I'll play my one note for you guys, in any key. Now, to make it easier, I've removed 11 of my 12 strings. I only need time enough between each song to tune up to that key at 440 nm. I'll show you some of my fancy bar and picking techniques as I can move a complete octave up the neck (always fret 12) and pick it twice, very fast. I'll be glad to offer a clinic to anyone that's interested. Admission is a BBQ sandwich (sliced) and a sweet tea. I hope to add a second string by mid summer. Pretty impressive, I know. But I've been working at this real hard for a long time. Practice, practice, practice and perfect pitch.

Brian, I'll pay your admission price if Tim will show me how to play those single note runs! I've moved up to 3 strings, and everybody says I'm way ahead of the game!

I can't wait to see everybody again. I promise this time I won't bring my steel. If I pay more than one time, how many BBQ's do I get?

See ya'll in May...
