Here's one that's been very helpful for me called "C6th quick start guide", about Diatonic harmony on C6th.
http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum8/HTML/001192.html

I took the liberty of translating part of the thread to E9/B6 in this "E9/B6 quickstart guide":
http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum8/HTML/002350.html

If you want to set this FAQ somehow as a separate webpage, I can provide some free premium hosting space with PHP, MySQL, etc...

hope this helps!

I notice b0b has added a link in 'tablature' to the Rebel & Ricky site. Great idea.

Surely one of the most frequently asked questions must be "does anyone have tab for ______ ??" Maybe a link to the site should be added.
I have not posted a link, as it's just a thought, and involves a site unconnected to the Forum. Travis, if you think it's a good idea too, I'll post it.

Hey everybody, sorry I haven't been keeping up with the latest submissions. My forum participation in general has been down recently. I will get to it.

-Travis

P.S. Thanks for the submissions, though--good stuff.

There are also numbers of recuring recording threads such as this latest

http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum10/HTML/005194.html

And threads specifically for recording steel.

Bump, and let's add a link to Karlis Abolins' Guitar Map program. An invaluable resource.

I like this:

I've been wondering 'why.'
As in 'why would I want a more complicated one than that.'

Discuss.

What does "bump" or "bump up" mean? I keep seeing this everywhere on the forum and can't find any reference to what it means.

Thanks

Hi Whit....the BUMP or BUMP UP is done in a reply box...just like when you're replying to a thread. The reason is so that the TOPIC will be "bumped" to the top of the list in the threads. Anytime anyone replys to a thread or post, it "bumps" the topic to the top of the list, until someone replies to another topic, and then that one is bumped to the top of the list. So, if you start a thread, and see that it's getting far down in the list, all you have to do is click on it, go to REPLY and click, and type in BUMP. It'll then go to the top of the list again.

I hope this wasn't as confusing for you to read as it was for me to type, lol!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Joy

Thanks Joy. I was way off. I started thinking it was some kind of steel guitar slang that meant something like "this guy is good - move him up".

Happy New Year!

I've only just caught up with this thread. It sounds to me like a Rolls Royce version of what is contemplated here would be a comprehensive cross referenced index to the entire proceedings of the Steel Guitar Forum. This would be a work akin to the compilation of the Oxford English Dictionary. Many, many volunteers would need to be recruited each with the task of ploughing through a given number of threads and noting each reference of interest according to some guidelines. Maybe such a project could be automated. I'm sure if enough people offered their time, it could be done. Would it be worth it? Any thoughts?

Am I or

I nominate 'Bent String' by Earnest Bovine for the funniest thread.

Seriously, just time for a bump for newbies.
